Electronic Parts Holders

I'm curious as to what you guys use to hold your electronics parts. Everything from resistors, diodes, MCU's, to solder, irons, flux, to tweezers, snips, bandaids.

I have a few containers, but they don't quite work exactly how I'd like them to. I got them from Harbor Freight, and they do a good job, just not good enough. The resistors I need to leave on the paper strips so they don't get lost under the divider of the one type of containers. And some of the others are slightly too small for anything meaningful.

plano parts bins or the cheap knockoffs at Walmart

I understand those things you two mentioned are for big stuff. But what about the smaller parts like the resistors, diodes, small transformers, etc?

I use drawers likejdeadman for small components. For larger components like ICs and large transistors I stick them into pieces of Styrofoam and put them in larger organizers.

It can be a pain in the butt organizing small things like resistors and diodes. I like them when they are still attached to their tape, so I can write on it.

I think you mean "drawers" :p Reminds me of the video of bigclivedotcom on youtube about the digikey issue. ;)

Yeah, I left my resistors/diodes still on the tape. But still need a place to store them, especially when you pull some off and need to put them back.

I'll see about the one jdeadman posted at the local stores and see what their prices are. Being in a college town, a lot stuff is over prices. ugh!

gotta beat canadian prices .

I like using these:

Although I am going to transfer them all to this type as I prefer the screw top lid:

nice!

@watts-on: I think I like that idea a lot better. Takes up a lot less space that way :)

I am building (31) FCDS discharge modules and have plenty of parts to manage for a while. I stapled all the resistors to a piece of cardboard, and am trying to use some egg cartons for loose components.

I put the egg carton of loose parts in a drawer or area of the credenza on my desk so it dont get knocked over, but it is a spill scare every time I take it out.

I know this thread is old, but I finally got around to sorting my component stock and thought I'd post a pic: :)

Thanks for the glass tub idea..... (for SMD)
and i have boxes full of them....
