    The winter months are brutal!!!

Reminds me of where I was born "Ohio", been away from there since 1985 only to return for visits in the summer time only. This is conformation I will retire somewhere in the southwest of the USA. Makes a nice Christmas card though. :-)

Mounting 18650 cell packs on DIN rails

I have a 100 bags of these my company was throwing away. They came with some CT's but we just let the CT's hang on the wire. They have pretty good DIN rail bite but I need to test them to see what weight they can handle. Cool ideal for a small pack being used on my test bench. I know I'm late...

    The winter months are brutal!!!

Doc once you get pass Tuesday you got it made in the shade.... Opppss I mean SUN! That's nice forecast data, especially the Cloud Cover(%) I could plan my consumption and alternate power strategy with it. Where did you get it?

Always with the questions. This time grounding.

This is how the handout from the city to get my permit to install solar said do it. Just like you wrote. Whether it’s good or bad, right or wrong don’t matter, to get the inspector to sign off is all that matter. That 50 feet of bare copper 6 AWG still bring a tear to my eye when I think of the...

    The winter months are brutal!!!

Just checked Mike Reynolds out. I will steal some of his concepts but I think my wife wants a conventional house and you know the saying, "Happy wife, happy life".

    The winter months are brutal!!!

I had to check that 45th Parallel wolf. And if all goes well next week I will be a land owner in New Mexico. The state I'm planning on retiring in. Then this battle/hobby to be 100% energy independent starts all over again.

    The winter months are brutal!!!

I agree the system has to be over sized and I guess I have to do it. I have two systems one grid tied one not. I do this in case the grid go away I can still have power. I have grid when I don't have solar but that defeats the battle to be energy independent. This whole thread made me think...

    The winter months are brutal!!!

I understand you OGITC. I'm looking at more capacity in battery bank so on good days the bank is not drawn low like you said 80% and in bad times I will still have some energy in the bank to cash out. If I could get 3 days I think I would be okay. I have already put normally closed relays in a...

    The winter months are brutal!!!

I actually built a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) 55 gallon drum and a washing machine motor. It worked! To not draw attention I only raised it at night just above my fence. It would have did better if it was up higher. I plan on getting back to that. I need to make the lift automated and...
