And I made a video about it ;-)
TL;DW - compare the average of all cells tested to the average of only those tests in a particular bay. This will give you an amount you should offset the tested mAh capacity. Starting voltage doesn't really seem to matter, assuming it's in a reasonable range...
Hey all, been a bit since I posted. Project has been going slowly, but picking up now. I have a couple videos about my 3D printed cell holders and my testing station. Enjoy!
The cells I'm harvesting have the positive terminal insulators, and I like them very much.
But some get messed up. I looked around, and I can't seem to find plastic ones like come in these cells. So 3D printer to the rescue!
Outside diameter: 16.4mm
Inside diameter: 10mm

I got frustrated with having to slice 5mm or so off of every sleeve before I used it. I decided to make a simple template/holder thingie to reduce the pain.
Here's a 2 minute video:
It might be nice to have a header feed from forum members (maybe some reputation/privilege threshold) so folks see on this page when people upload new videos or go live streaming. YouTube notifications aren't perfect, and it's hard to crawl the forum and find everyone's channel.
I don't even...
The cells I'm breaking apart are currently spot welded. I can pull the majority off easily enough, but there are small remnants too small for pliers to grab.
Any advice on removing these bits? Dremel? Chisel?
Here's a pic to be clear what I'm talking about.
Apologies if this has been discussed, but I could only find relevant discussion for batteries.
But this is about solar panels!
I've seen that shading on a single solar panel can knock out the entire series string, and that's one of the benefits of parallel. However the higher voltage also has...
I'm still a few weeks out from starting my build, but I figured I'd go ahead and start up a thread since I took the first $ plunge today and bought my donor batteries, and I'm about to submit purchase for the trailer, as soon as we can agree on windows. This project is now officiallygreen-lit...
Long time lurker,I'm toying with the idea of building my own packs instead of buying. One potentially big item is the Solar Investment Tax Credit in the US. That 30% can be pretty significant for a larger wall. Anyone have experience or thoughts about that credit related to these builds?
