Are there some rc scientists here?

My question is a bit childish..
I am still playing with trains, but this time in my garden.(gauge 1, 45 mm track)
I would like to rc control them, the deltang and other are for my taste to expensive, i think the cost can be brought down to 10% of the price of the deltang and other receivers and transmitters
The loco's only have to go forward and backward, nothing fancy just 3v to 7,5v motors (from arduno)
If i look deeper i encounter deep-sky and frsky and simulair stuff....you lost me here, there is to much for me to understand.

I understand that live steam locos must have servo's and electric loco's a esc or something.
But where do i start, or what do i must buy and do with it.
Espacaly what do i must buy, there is so much.
4 to 10 locos on one transmitter or each loco on his own transmitter?
Both are exapteble, now i am transferring one receiver from one loco to a other.....and drive one at the time.....

Thanks in advance,best Igor

Opentx with FrSky taranis or equal would work. It can easily do what you whant and you have 10+ channels on todays modern recievers. Especially the digital one.
Though this kind of controller may not be the best and you want one more suited for it. Above is more of a controller you use to actively controll a plane, quad or other nice cool stuff :D

If you plan to run 1 reciverr to them all that one must be connected to them all as well.... Otherwise you need to do like you do ie change model on most of the controller
The more heavy controllers may be able to controll multiple at same time but thats out of my league as well im afraid :) I have at most been running filming rigs with like 14 channels and stuff :p

Thanks Daromer for you answer, i will keep it simple
I ordered a transmitter and receiver kit from deltang.
Fits the bill perfect for me, saves me a lot of time and money.
