hi I have 4x 12v brand newleisure batteries connected to my pip 4048GE hypbrid inverter/charger. One of the 4 batteries has gone dead for some reason so Im trickle charging it after disconnecting it from the bank. All 4went flat when I ran out of juice and no solar input so I had to trickle charge each one to get the bank detected by the pip unit. I think the batteries are all in various states of charge!

My question is how can I ensure that when I return the battery to its bank with the other that all 4 batteries are balanced and in the same state of charge? Does my pip unit do somethingto balance them? Or do I need to do something special?

You fully charge them before adding them! Then you let the pip do its work. Its not bullet proof and lead acid do like balancing too but in generall the balancing is done when a string is fully charged but that demands that all cells in series are of the same type and age

Ok thanks Ill fully charge all 4 and reconnect. Shame its gonna take me days using my trickle charger doing one at a time tho.

You can reconnect the 4 in parallel and will balance, then connect the charger if you want to add some charge.

Perfect thats exactly whats Ill do tomorrow.

Thank you for such quick replies.

Be careful... if you reconnect eg 1x flat battery in parallel with one or more fully charged batteries, large currents might flow.
Ie the full one will dump power into the flat one.
You might
- melt cables
- blow fuses
- damagebatteries

Better to fully charge each, then reconnect.
