Hello,

Would someone be willing to share settings for the charge/discharge control logic (or any other setting) for a safe and long battery life using the batrium watchmon 4 with expansion.

Thank you

In Batrium you can actually just pick LiFePo4 long life settings as a good start. Dont forget to set the charge/discharge settings in your charger and inverter accordingly.

Do you have the logic connected to anything and if so how?

Hello @daromer ,

Thank you. Yes, I selected lifepo4 long life. I have the charge and discharge connected to fet contactors. In the control logic for the expansion, I set them to charge on and discharge on. For the charge and discharge tabs, would you have a starting point for these values for long life?

I dont use that since i set those values in the charger/inverter. Thats why i asked if you have it set up or need to use it?

Have you configured the settings in the inverter/charger? If not do that based on your current max/min settings.

I run 3.5V max and min is 3.0 during normal and 2.6 for critical.

Hello @daromer ,

Thank you for the help. I'm not using a controllable charger/inverter. Its hooked up to a charge and discharge contactor.

Do these values look okay?

Discharging looks fine. Its not wrong but I don't use these - set them off and just focus on when I turn off my inverter.

Charging. Not sure why you set 3.4v as "Hi". The specs say 3.65v and as I understand LifePO4, its a very flat voltage curve... so you will likely need to adjust this up to 3.60v or something just under 3.65v if you want to fully charge them:

and similarly/follow thru for the Shunt settings - e.g. 13.70v seems low to me. 3.60v * 4 = 14.4v perhaps (to be consistent with 3.60v above)

Temp settings look good :)

Critical - suggest this be consistent with the settings above. Hi same as Charging hi and Low same as Discharging low - maybe just a bit wider (bit higher / bit lower) than daily operational hi/low depending on what you want.
3.75v for "Hi Cell Volt" - maybe bring it back to 3.65v (e.g. the specs of your cells). Maybe 3.0v for "Lo CellVolt" - which is below Discharging Low... why take it soooo low if not needed.

*General comments....
In general, I'd recommend you stay within the specs of your cells. You can go less than max or more than minimums - but I'd try to work within the min/max of the cells.

I might suggest 'stepping back' and look at the big picture a bit to understand the affect of these settings. In my case - they ONLY affect the Shunt-Trip thru Relay 1 on the expansion board that will disconnect the battery. So my settings are geared to Shunt-Trip / Emergency only.... as I don't use Charging / Discharging / Cricital capabilities to do separate things. Some do Fans for extra cooling, some do this, some do that. I don't even use Batrium to turn the inverter on/off - I use my Midnite Classic controller for that.

What is your goal for Batrium in terms of controllering external events? Do you plan to fire a shunt-trip for Critical events? Do you plan to turn on cooling fans if the longmons fire up? .... Will you be connecting Batrium to some other (compatible) equipment for Batrium to provide input? This will help answer what settings you should use.

I hope this helps a bit - happy to discuss more :)
