Drive EV, EVs Enhanced are both good places to source a high quality battery, if you haven't run across those yet.

Are you in Christchurch or Wellington?

Nelson :-(

I have been dealing with a chap up in Auckland who sells batteries. He is just out of stock currently. I've not tried those others.

Drive EV currently has 75kw batteries in stock. Another good source is Turners wrecked car auctions, however then you have to deal with the rest of the car. Both Drive EV and EVs enhanced are great companies that are well respected in the nz EV community and I've been dealing with for almost 10 years.

That is incredible, please let me know how you get on with this, I absolutely want to do the same thin
I looked up the "Tesla Model 3 / Y Battery / Solar Controller..." and wondering to myself (and now outload :)) why this instead of @Dala's software management project. Seems it provides communication between the battery and 'an inverter' but I didn't see a lot of detail such as does it balance? does it have an interface? etc.

No judgement, just curious from a functional standpoint.

There has been loads of companies pop up that take the open-source software I publish, and they package it into their own box, and sell it as a product. This is totally fine by me, I put the GPLv3 license on the project because I want it to be as useful as possible.

I really hope that the company that sells these can provide support for the end users, and not just point the users towards my Github and outsource the support that way 🙈

I have batteries from a Tesla 3 from 2025 with a capacity of 80kWh, the master BMS has been dismantled in the battery, is it possible to connect another BMS in another way and connect the storage to the Deye HV inverter?

Hi @Wattage

I'm planning exactly the same installation. Model 3 55 kWh battery coupled to Fronius Gen24+ inverter, here in New Zealand. Your information is very helpful!

I sourced a Plug & Play controller out of a chap in Perth. This simply packages up the Lilygo into a nice box and adds a few switches and a 12V battery. It looks like a reasonable arrangement. I can get a scrap Tesla battery out of Auckland fairly cheaply.

Are you satisfied so far with your setup? I'm particualrly interested in the whole cell balancing issue and what you've done/are doing to address that.

Cheers
I have purchased that item too. I had to replace the LilyGo with a 2Can Lilygo as my Solax needed a separate Can channel. Very happy with this item. The electrician I am working with has bought 3 in total & My system is up & running. 1 x Tesla 3 62kW, 1 LilyGo emulator & a Solax 1X all housed in a 8' container with Solar & waterwheel for full off grid supply to holiday home.
The electrican has another identical running an off grid Home which on occations has a draw of 4kW over the day! The Generator only turned on once in the past month, previously it ran most days

Hi, I am in Southland & so far have bought 3 x Tesla 3 EV 62kW batteries from Len @ Advanced Parts. The local electrician Gary @ "Added Energy" has set-up the 1st Battery/Emulator/Solax 1X and it is installed in an 8' container & functioning perfectly off-grid with PV panels and bound for our holiday home. The next 2 Batteries/2 Emulators/ Solax 3X 3 Phase inverter are currently in initial set-up/testing for grid-tied use to reduce our Grid supply & act as back-up during black-outs at home

I can recommend Len @ Advanced Parts in Auckland, I have purchased three Tesla 3 62kW batteries from him, shipping to Southland was just over $1000 Mainfreight door to door. BTW I just checked & Len has more Batteries listed on trademe

Hi Dala! Great to finally be able to send you a message. Your Wiki & advise on the LilyGo Emulator & software updates have been so helpful to my project & Gary, the electrician involved, with my 2 projects. Latest project schematic posted below.

I can reassure you that the persons involved with the sale of those Emulators are pretty good with support - I have 2 of them

@drlumsden
When connecting the Tesla Model 3 battery via LilyGo, did you use the original Tesla slaves?
Sorry for my ignorance, what do you mean by "Tesla Slaves"?
My setup is a Tesla Battery connected via the Low Voltage cable using the original Sumitomo X098 connector as well as + & - cables to the 12V terminals near the Sumitomo connector to the Emulator. The High voltage Charge & Discharge has a High voltage capacitor across it to protect the inverter.

I have a Tesla 3 battery with an integrated slave. I don't have a master BMS, so my question is whether I can use the original slave via LilyGo. I want to create a high-voltage storage system.

Well it seems like you guys are going a bit into uncharted territory and need support ;) https://github.com/dalathegreat/Battery-Emulator/discussions/2154 Again, this is what I ideally want to prevent, but it is totally fine.

So is it possible to balance the tesla model 3 LFP battery 2022/2023? Or should we go down the BYD Atto 3 route?

This link has some information regarding that.

Aka the "Batman" chip - One is on the penthouse controller, and one is on each of the modules as depicted in your photo. I too am on the same journey as I'd prefer to do away with the penthouse, and really don't want to wire a custom BMS to the cells.

Hello, I don't have a PCS battery. After connecting the Stark CMR, I can read the batteries, but it doesn't turn on the contactors. I put a 2kΩ resistor where the pyrofuse is. Has anyone experienced this before?

Hello, the contactors are activated, but I can't discharge the energy storage. It shows 0A discharge. The CAN log is attached. I'll just add that I bought the BMS online. And from what I noticed, it has a crash flag. How do I remove it?
