Looks Good. Better job than my last concrete work. Did the 11/2" pvc pipe get moved while pouring the concrete? It is plumb with the base plate in the second pic and looks like it is on an angle to the base of the concrete in the last pic. Does the base extend below ground level?

Yes the pvc pipe did move slightly when the concrete went in. I’m not over worried as it’s going to be cut down to an inch or two above the base anyway. It is in the ground as well but only about 400mm. Pics don’t really do it justice.

I always thought that wind turbines need either a deep/wide foundation, or 3+ anchors with tension wires to prevent them from tipping over? I guess it depends on a number of factors... Is there a guideline for surface-block setup like yours?

Not really it’s more a case of hoping it works. I saw a posts somewhere regarding temporary portable turbines for use at events and festivals etc. They basically just dumped a concrete block on the ground and attached the column to it. Seamed to work so I thought I’d try it the same way. I was thinking that I may also add sets of four guy wires just as belt and braces. One set from the corners of the base to about half way up and another set to about 3/4 of the way up. Haven’t totally made my mind up on that yet.

I have the impression, that like batteries, the advertised 'rated' power of wind turbines can be overblown in comparison with actual results. Looking forward to a report on how much it actually produces. Totally jealous (in a positive way)

Yeah to be honest I’m a little doubtful about the actual production rate versus the claimed. However this is really only an evaluation run at the moment to see how well it performs. I’d be happy with 50%+ of the claimed output. So an average of 500+W would be good and if it works well than I will upgrade it to a higher output at a later date. I have been using a weather monitor station out there for the last year or so and on windy days I have a good strong steady wind out there, if it does match or is close to it’s rated output that’s a bonus but I very much doubt it will be anything like they claim.

I'm on the fence about this, because many leaving poor reviews totally overestimate their wind resource and/or clearly have no clue what they're doing. And then there are plenty of seemingly not-fake, good reviews.
So maybe there are Chinese wind turbines that offer adequate quality/performance for very cheap prices?
Of course there are many makes and models, some with obviously impossible claims.


Me, too. Wind would complement my solar nicely in the winter, but I have too many neighbors and trees nearby.

Yeah luckily enough I don’t have to many problems like that now there was I lovely big 20M + hedge along the back but the owners of the property at the back cut them all down.

I had a small break in the nasty weather a couple of weekends ago, I managed to get out in the yard and fix the column down with my fabricated hinge plate.



Pulled the power cable through the column and fitted the inverter control panel into the control box, attached the turbine to the column.







Then the bloody rains came again before I had chance to raise it, still waiting for a break in the weather so I can get out there and finish off.

I‘ve also managed to process and test cells for another 14 40P packs to add to the wall, these will give me an additional 93Ah/4.685 kWh of storage putting my wall up to 396Ah/16.6kWh.





I have also got enough surplus good capacity cells processed for 3 more 40P packs.
Need to pull my finger out and source some more cells for another 11 packs.

Was starting to get dark and beginning to rain, had to put the doors up a bit rapid so no pics of the packs mounted yet, maybe over the weekend if the rain stops long enough.

Still to sort out an issue with getting the ME3000SP talking to the BMS, not sure how this is going to work out at the moment.

At the moment I haven’t. I have the BMS monitoring the battery only and not talking to the ME3000SP.

I have my battery perimeters set to the custom settings so that it’s not looking for the BMS coms and that clears the ID52 code and allows it to operate.

My nephew who is a genius when it come to coding is working on a system for me at the moment that will monitor all my equipment and make the coms between everything operational.
