Yes, this is correct. I have reverse engineered the protocol and LCD layout and created a PCB which you should be able to order on JLPCB for example. Unfortunately likely to design mistakes in the USB side the USB interface is very flakey (the host can't often read the USB descriptor properly), therefore I'm currently using it modified where the LCD frames are being sent via UART and UART->USB dongle is allowing the PC to read it.
