Seeing that many users do not just build powerwalls but also more or less portable batteries for sheds, garages and others, using inverters adds unnecessary complexity, as most everyday electronics are DC powered anyway, either internally or externally.
However it is still not quite easy to find good quality household appliances that can work on low voltage DC directly, like microwave ovens, water kettles, coffeemakers, TV sets and so on.
And the stuff you can find at the usual suspects like aliexpress, Amazon or eBay often has dubious quality.
I think it's good to have a thread in which we can collect info in the devices we bought and used. Not only the good ones, but also the bad ones. Also, if you managed to convert a device from high voltage AC to low voltage DC, please share the info on how you did it.

For starters, i'll share a project from a fellow German offgrid enthusiast, who managed to power almost all of his house with low voltage DC: http://www.dasgleichstromhaus.de/?page_id=60 The page is in German but offers a machine translation. If you still get stuck somewhere, please don't hesitate to ask me via pm.

Mini-BoxHas things like DC input ATX power supplies, also DC input/output mini UPS boards.

Doing a search for "DC input atx psu" in google will turn up various companies/shops with 12/24/48V input ATX supplies.
You can also find ways to power laptops of DC supplies.

MP3car has 12 volt computing power supplies and accessories. They were made to get computers to work in an automotive environment. Pretty handy for running off battery packs :ugeek:
