DIYBMS v4 thoughts

Have been reading this forum for a few months now with the idea to create a battery pack for our 'Dasha' instead of buying an AGM battery.
So far I have collected a bunch of cells and ordered components to set up a testing environment.

I decided to give DIYBMS a go and have just placed an order with JLCPCB, and got a question from the reviewers about component polarity.

below picture is what they sent along with the question, I have no idea what the right polarity should be, appreciate if anyone can enlighten me (and save soldering if the placing is wrong indeed).

Well, first off your image is nothing but resistors and diodes on a black background. No traces or silk screening is visible. Perhaps try redoing the screen capture or how ever you got the image.

I don't see any difference between the two, unless I'm missing something.

What was it exactly they asked? It's possible they are only asking due to there being diodes on the board. Sometimes they just contact to verify they are reading it correctly.

As shown below, we are not so sure about the polarity for the components below is correct or not, could you please kindly have a check?

Can we just make it as shown in the picture?

I would post this on the main forum for the project to see if anyone else ran into this issue with JLC.


I have assembled 20 of these boards. The first one I assembled failed because I placed the solder paste by hand instead of using a stencil. I ordered a stencil from OSH Stencils and it made the assembly work a lot better. Now I have to install them in one of the BYD batteries I have and test the system.

Has anyone here done the JLCPCB assembly route recently? I'd like to give this one a try - was wondering what your experience was with their work, pricing, shipping times, etc. I can solder pretty well by hand, but these parts are just too small for my vision. Thanks!

I'm interested in this too. Perhaps a joint order?
 
I too have just ordered a pre assembled set of monitor and controller boards. The only parts I need to put on are the headers, connectors, LED for the controller and the Wemos, and the ATTiny841 SSU for the monitors. The boards haven't arrived yet, they're still in the mail. As my battery sank below 12.4 volts, I decided it was time to whip up a balance cable, and hook it to the hobby charger (which has a LiFePo4 Balance charge program) to get it back up to a decent start of charge, so the balancer boards when they're built and fitted, can finish the job.

Charging a 180Ah LiFePo4 with a hobby charger limited to 5A (crap cables, no problem for the charger to do 20A), is painfully slow ;)
 
It may seem like that, but once you factor in overwhelmed national customs in some countries it starts to make sense to organise a group buy in a country where that isn't an issue, and then distribute them locally.
Plus Jcbpcb makes you buy extra, not enough for another system, but way too much for just a few spares.
 
Sorry for the noob question, but how can I order these boards preassembled from JLCPCB? I know I can upload the gerber files for the boards, but how to go from there?
