I am trying to connect my PC to my Tracer5415AN and i am getting the error message below
'Operation failed. The operation has timed out'.

I am using the software from Controler - PC Tool V1.93 from your software page on the Epever website.
User software user manual doesnt mention Windows 10, not sure if that could be the issue.

I can see on several forums that this is a common issue over the last few years, however i can not find a solution.

Has anyone have a solution for this?
Thanks
Andy
PS Email company but not holding my breath they will return my email.

im not sure if its the same as the tracerPTR3210A but have you set the driver correctly,
go into your device manager and make sure this is selected

Yeah did all that and still no go.
They said it was the cable, got a new cable and still not working.

I wondering if anyone with the same TRACER has actually been able to use the software.
I know the smaller units work.

The Windows software is definitely a bit of a mess but does work. I monitor my Tracer BN with a Raspberry Pi and a different USB<->RS485 adapter now but if you're looking to program and change settings then dealing with Windows is the easier method. I see from the images there are two RJ45 connectors. Goes without saying you've tried both ports? And double check the RS485 box is still checked if you plug/unplug?

just a heads up warning for anyone using these systems my PTR3210A does not isolate the ground on the RS485 from the batteries or charge unit, I run my pc off my batteries via a 12v powersupply instead of the pc's inbuilt 240v and as such if you leave that cable connected and your batteries are drained below the cutoff or you manually turn the load off the system will still remain active only now your drawing all your current through that little cable. I am currently trying to find a workaround instead of constantly removing the cable

i should also mention you cannot just remove the ground from the cable as the system relies on it to communicate. maybe a diode may be the solution

Use some kind of opto isolation. I think this might work.

Thanks all who gave advice, i finally with the help from Epever support, wish they sent this information sooner.
It turn out theUSB-RS485-150U can be wired incorrectly, just switch the two wires around and BINGO both controller and inverter software working.
Thanks
Andy

I have the same problem, but change the wirings doesn't help. I send email to support and waiting for their reply

They reply...

Thanks for your email.

And for your issue, could do the test with a new cable again? And please make sure the RS485 port is marked.

If still not work, please refer to the attcahment to check again.

I finally got mine to work. Thanks for the info here.
1 - swapped yellow and black wires in the CC-USB-RS485-150U cable
2 - In driver settings in device manager check the RS485 box
3 - In driver settings in device manager change Baud rate to 115200
4 - success

There are some custom software (Arduino/Raspberry) that can read data and interact with epever (configure/switch load)

with Arduino i had no luck(but manu user have It working) i m going to are of new video of Colin heckey give me a Better/working software link (i Need to read, store an open/close IOT item)

Hi,

I had the same problem, connecting my Tracer-3906BP to a Windows PC. I messed around and finally found a solution. For me, it was more than switchen a pair of wires. I had to switch 2 pairs and the the colours that some of you succeeded with was different.

Here is the video:

I had a similar issue but it was because of a driver failure. I dont really know what it really was, but definitely it was a driver issue. So, I found on this blog:https://thinkmobiles.com/blog/best-free-driver-updater/a good driver updater. It automatically updated every driver that was old. After that the issue disappeared and now I can use everything without any problems and issues. I use my pc to code for Arduino and I really needed this to work. I couldnt finish my order. So, this is a life safer for me.

seriously we have a like button, but can't we have a dislike button so we can automatically flag all these nigerian scammers when there's enough votes?

I too had issues comunicating with my tracer an series charge controller - for me the issue was the pins on the rj45 port not correctly contacting the pins on the EPEVER cable. This was in part due to the plastic teeth on the EPEVER cable being wider than those on a typical internet cable, and the pins on the controller socket being slightly bent. Replacing the end of the cable solved the problem.
