Added the 2nd watchmon into the game.

2nd battery bank is not hooked up to main system as you can see with the battery voltage. The red indication on 4.10 and 4.18V indicates that the Watchmon is burning of the top voltage of the cells. This to get it down somewhat so i can run it in paralell.

So now i have 78 Longmons in use!
 
That is Grafana and a dashboard that i have put together. Data is partly taken from Batrium in here.

Doing some work on it and there will most likely be some templates and such available for people that want to incorporate it with Batrium or for that matter any other software or hardware.

Grafana is a graphing tool that is free. I run it on Linux server on top of graphite and some other stuff. Going to create some kind of ISO for it so people easily can get it going.
 
Nice dashboard. Are the 2 Batriums linked in any way or completely independent?

Also just watched your video with the leaky cell, one thing I would suggest to avoid that is not using cells below 70-80% of the original capacity, particularly in things that are gonna get considerable cycles like power tools, any motorized stuff basically. You could easily double years of cycles ona laptop cell in a few months.
 
2 different batrium systems. Only thing in common is that the batteries monitored are hooked up to same equipment (Not yet though)

I would say the other way around :) For stuff like that cheap ATV for kids its a perfect place to use the lower end cells. I rather have them in that environment where i can controll the discharge and charge where I am around than in a powerwall :)

I would not use any lower end cells in any high end equipment or function though.
 
Yeah I wasn't suggesting using them actively in anything, I'm using them to make spare packs in case my active ones need maintenance, a few hours of use maybe. My only point is you'll get longer, consistent use from a cell that tests 1800 and was 2000 originally vs a cell that tests 2000-2100 and was 2600-2800 originally. That's just from the testing I've done on cells from packs where I knew the cycles. The originally higher capacity cells drop below the lower capacity cells in 60-80 cycles
 
Some stats for last month:
Solar produced: 1628kWh
Bought from grid: 247kWh (Out of those i had 50kwh due to doing a testcharge of the bank)
Sold to grid: 453kWh

Total power saved and used from battery: 462kWh
Total charged: 485kWh

So why did I charge 23kWh more to the battery bank than using? First of all you have some losses as always when charging. its not 1-1. LiFe is close to 100%. But lets say 99%.

So we still have alot of losses.. No we dont (I Think) The reason is that i have done alof of balancing lately due to not all being in balance and therefore it differs.

Yep - that's the one i clicked on after browsing which ones were available.

I guess it's all about the concept of low cost power- we have paid so much for for our power needs forso long that the idea of a low cost energy source is compelling.

Batteries are nice, panels are sexy !
 
Update 2017-06-04


Im now running 46 panels in total at 260Wp each. ~12kW. And Im working on adding another 18 to the east roof of my garage.

Editing video of adding/moving 2 of them and will be up later tonight.

I also have 6 panels to South at 80 degree angle just leaning towards the wall. Merely for testing but at same time its all about utilizing all space you got available.


I still need bunch of angle irons and other stuff to be able to mount last 18 panels on the roof.

Video + images will come later on how it look now. Currently its raining here and dark sky. Still producing 1400w ouf ot 12000 possible. So almost 12% of max.

So im currently discharging battery bank but thats no problem.

I will be posting more detailed videos in future how to incorporate Grafana with Batrium but there is some parts pending before i can do that. This incorporation can be done with any other BMS or system where you can get values out from.


Added 2 panels today
 
Currently running 14kW of solar panels. PIP + PCM + MPI inverters running where the MPIhave fixed foltage set meanwhile the PIP is 0.2V higher and the PCM have nothing.

So days like this one will then be that the PIP shut off when batteri is full meanwhile the MPI take surplus energy to the grid. Works pretty well i must say but for future when adding 3kw more i need to sort a better way to use excess energy or be able to sell it.

So what you see above are all 4 MPPT controllers. Where by the PIP is mainly shut off and did not produce much. It has 1500W worth of solar on it.

Pretty decent day i must say with not much clouds :)
 
Version 3 created today.
Tweaked some memory settings and such to work better with current setup. So it do work pretty good now. Its just a matter of making sure it includes some instructions and example to be able to read out some data from example inverter. In this case including the PCM and the PIP. A simplier parser for the Batrium included precompiled.

So for people that know their way around linux it will work or for those just interesting in the mqtt/nodered/grafana part it will also work.

I will start a thread and release a video of this later this week. (Thats my plan atleast)
 
Sounds good. Is there an option to run it on anything other than battrium?
At the moment a battrium setup is unfortunately outside my budget.
Also is that image of your hand and arm burnt from the ladder accident?
 
No damage on me from the ladder incident :)

there is no such thing as automatic on this image. The image only provides the software bundled together with some example scripts :)

Depending on your equipment I might be able to guide you on how to get it going. I only provide simple test script for te PIP4048 and the PCM60x as of now and its actually supplied by another member here on the forum and slightly modified by me.
 
Im still at the pack building stage. No hardware yet. Im not quite sold on the MPP hardware, Daromer did you sort your issue?. The quality seems a bit light. They are 1/3rd the price of most other brands SMA, Schneider.... At that price they are attractive.
 
The quality hmm. They "work"

Pros:
* They are damn cheap
* They do work

Cons
* No support on technical things. They dont answer any other emails than emails regarding buying more hw. Not even their distributors get answers on technical questions
* Not much of guarantee but they have helped me with faulty things from the start so thats good!
* The software sucks big time due to lack of functions and things missing in documentation on how to do certain things and limits that are not described
* They are pretty inefficient. My hybrid draws several 100w... My PIP stop charge heck alot earlier than all my other chargers do from solar just due to poor MPPT design.

The device i like the most so far is the PCM60x that works flawlesly!! I do like the other devices too. But on the other hand i dont have any of the expensive ones to compare to

Above inverter cost the same as the MPP hybrid but it has alot better hardware and also better guarantee. the support from them so far have been spot on.

No i have not tested it yet but would love to but it costs and really dont need another one right now :)
