found some cells

they look like the SANYO FJ series with the red wrap and orange/red ring BUT, the red wrap is almost transparent and there is no sanyo stamped in the wrapperon the side.

The markings in the wrapper on the side just say " Japan L24A"

under the wrap on the battery it says:

and stamped into the bottom cap (neg) is an "F"

any ideas?

Its hard to tell but the darker red wrap is translucent.
You can see right through it.the other battery is a sanyo (stamped on the side)

The second picture is the most color-accurate.
One is true red, the other is fake-blue-infested-red.

yeah, and out of the 30 or so i have (mixed) only 2 passed the testing phase.
Everything is fine up until the load test.

with a 3ohm resistor, the voltage drops and drops and drops and never stabilizes.
