Why are you picking based on viewer suggested numbers instead of using random.org? Thats the only truly fair way to pick a random number.

Because it makes it more interactive with a live feed - and the first person to put it up is random enough for me. Furthermore, more comments in the live feed makes me more income ( 0.00006c) <probally half that actually offsetting the cost of postage

So if I can write a bot that adds lots ofcomments, does that make it more likely I'll win

In my last batch of cells, I received there were a few Ryobi 1.5ah dead batteries - Rebuilding the Ryobi Batteriesgot one back up and running with NCR18650's

Do a video where you have a random number generated for another batch of drawings, excluding the ones that aren't responding, that is. I would probably wait 2 weeks as some may have issues getting online due to location or life in general. Some people can only get on at the Library (not saying any of these are of those type, though) But, ultimately, it's up to you on the time frame.

In the excel spreadsheet, you can do a formula in a cell to randomly select a name.

Picked up the spot welder from Pete yesterday. He is one awesome Aussie, I can tell you.

Unfortunately the spot welder tripped the breaker so Ill look into some mods to make it usable. Safety first, I know.
Here is it powered up before it tripped the breaker.

You cannot hook your own home built battery pack. The Tesla battery pack is not even close in terms of how it works to our builds. You need a lot more than just a 10kWh of battery pack that is home built to hook it up to a grid-tie system Im afraid.

So if i am getting solar installed with an inverter that is battery compatible and my house uses ~10kwh per day.
Why would i need more then say 10-15kwh home builtbattery pack?

Because imagine if you needed more power throughout the day than needed, or perhaps you have a power outage.

More capacity is always welcome.

You can also lower the max charging voltage of each cell if you have overall more capacity to get more cycle life.

What is the size of the breaker to that circuit? I would imagine you would need the 2nd level up (here in the US we have 15, 20, 30A, ... breakers). Moving to the 2nd level (20A in my case) might be enough. Dont change the breaker, just run a new wire for the welder (if out in the garage or easy access to the panel) or if close enough to the dryer/waterheater connections, tap into those circuits. If the waterheater, I would recommend putting a transfer switch so the water heater doesn't come on while you are spot welding.

If you only drive from home to work and use only 10 liters of fuel, why would you need a tank that holds 20 liters? Just in case you need to travel further, or go longer between fuel ups. Solar isn't always able to collect sun light. There are times where it will take all day to get what you could get in 1 hour in full direct sunlight. The extra power gives you a large buffer to work with. Lets say a storm rolls through and blocks the sun for 2+ days. If you have 4 times the storage of what you use in 1 day, you could last those 2 days without having to cut back on what you normally would use (like shutting off the water heater, no central air, no clothes dryer, etc)

With my battery pack I still run my batteries flat twice a week - BUT if I had a hybrid inverter where I could hook up my other 6kw of solar to the batteries I'd bee MUCH better off.. Done again - Hybridinverter not off grid would have been my choice!

Yes,Obviously larger KWH pack would be better, but than again you would need enough solar panels to charge the pack. I'm not too concerned on running out of power in the batteries as i would not be fully off gird. The batteries would just help out at night to lower the power bill.

I am only just starting the battery build and have planned to go with the 10 - 15 kwh as i only use ~10kwh a day and maybe 7-8kwh'sof that is at nightand i can always add more batteries later if i require. But then again it is always time, money, and availability of 18650s.

I am currently looking at 5kw of solar andthe Solax Hybrid inverters, but i'm not sure if they will work with a DIY 18650 pack.

Grid-tie systems are for switching over to the grid when your solar/battery system is insufficient, or to supply excess to the grid.

Not sure what your point is about a limited capacity of 10kWh of battery storage is. Anything more than zero battery storage is a benefit.
