Help with a DIY version of the goalzero sherpa 100ac power bank

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to try to make a DIY version of the Goalzero Sherpa 100AC Power Bank. I was hoping I can get some guidance on building it as I never build one of these before.
I'm looking for suggestions on what type of battery configuration I should use (maybe 4S) and parts that you might know that I could use to build this such as very small power inverter. I'm thinking of using ESP8266 to drive the LCD and 3D printing a case.

Personally I'd give the inverter a miss. 100w is not good for much. My guess it is intended as a fairly inefficient way to charge laptops.

As for the various USB and charging circuits, there are plenty of pre-made setups you can buy from China. This is where I would begin my search. Look for reviews from reputable sources. You would be surprised at what is out there.
