Just arrived to the forum looking for some help, and willing to help to the extent of my knowledge.

I'm in sunny Spain and have 'designed' and setup a solar/battery grid/offgrid system with 22 VW iD3 batteries for storage (6,85kWh x 22 = 150kWh) and 4 Victron Multiplus II 5kVA inverters to work in triphasic. I'm grid connected but only use it when the installed 7kWp of solar power are not enough and when charging the cars during the night. My house uses about 25-30kWh daily and the cars... well, wathever you throw at them, we commute and drive lots of Kms everyday...

I will post pics, but cabling is still ugly as hell, I'm focused in making everything work and more important, I've been testing BMS's and reading LOTs of info to make the best decision there. If there is interest I will modify this post to add photos and more detailed description, but I feel like the place for that will be its own thread.

Best regards!!!

Look forward to some pics ./ details. Like you, I need 30-50kwh/day for heat (mostly) but in winter I'm only averaging 17-20kwh/day. Working on plans to put up more panels :).

I'm planning of adding more panels too. Right now I have 17 panels, 355W Canadian Solar working in DC with victron regulators, but I have another roof with room for up to 24 panels more with a Fronius triphasic grid tied inverter (too far from the batteries to work in DC).

I just have to chop a beatiful nut tree shadowing that roof, that had to go away anyway as its roots are breaking the floor nearby, a pity...

Shame to have to chop the tree, but at least you can. My neighbors bamboo is the bane of my panel existence.

Fortunately he is a good guy and friend so he lets me trim is back some. I still lose all light by 4pm this time of the year.
Welcome to the form!

Hello Angel,

I'm heading into the same situation as you are! Does your Mulitplus switch automatically between grid/solar/battery power? Ie, does it minimize the usage of grid-power? Or do you manually have to switch off grid-power in order to use local power?

Welcome :) Sounds like you are well along in your DIY journey. I look forward to photos and more info and yes a new post in the proper section would probably be the place to put that.

Sorry for the delay guys, I promise photos and all sorts of info, but I'm dealing with a lot right now and have almos zero time for anything not urgent right now. I won't let you down, I plan even to make a youtube channel for my installation explaining everything, but that will be as I get some free time ;-)
