Haaaaa haaaaa! Good one this weekend we had scheduled 3 hour power outages due to stress on the grid. The whole neighborhood dark except my house. Lights on inside, lights on outside, TV blasting the NBA game 7 Nets vs. Bucks. Everywhere else, crickets. People started to walk, I could hear the chatter “why this house still have power?” People came over and asked, one simple answer… POWERWALL. Tesla? No DIY powerwall. Can you make me one? Maybe.
This could be a new business but the liability may be too high.

Yea - @hbpowerwall mentioned liability issues in chat last night saying something like electricians were wary of recycling used panels (putting them up on your house) because they weren't new / difficult to warranty and maybe getting sued.

In my town - my general contractor was not allowed to 'install panels', neither was the electrician or roof folks or the HVAC folks that installed my solar panel capable heat-pump. The state requires a special licensed 'solar technician'!! and this takes the full journeyman + test (e.g. time and effort). I got around this by installing the actual panels myself as 'the homeowner' - which is allowed. The general contractor put up the rails etc and helped lift them to me on the roof. Crazy laws!

Ä power wall made out of used ev batts is pretty simple...
In general it is pretty simple, but get enough cells is the difficult part.
Contact your laws and regulations first before you are going to buy big heaps of what ever cells.

But....get that smug/smile of your face please....

:cool:(y):ROFLMAO::LOL:

Crazy laws. The city I live in have “Solar Tuesdays” they will give you a permit to install based on drawings and cut sheets for all the devices you installing. Call for inspection within a year. Fail your inspection after 11 months? No problem, they tell you what you have to do to correct it……call for inspection within a year. Don‘t know what happens if you fail the second inspection but hey 2 years with solar with nobody on your back cause you DIYed it ain’t bad.

I just scheduled an inspection of a mini split system only have 180 days here. Video inspection <install new app>register for an account. hope the longest part of the inspection was figuring out how to schedule an inspection. I should ask the city if homeowners can self install solar.

later floyd

Sweet. When I had mine in test mode at home before I took it to my Camp we had a lightening induced power failure and my neighbors all were asking why I still had power. No Rain so I pulled out the Projector and played a moving for the neighborhood

Install a few mini-splits (MR COOL, 36K) no inspection. But we have to get a permit for a gas water heater still nobody is coming to inspect it. All our permits are money generators for the city, they only come out to inspect if you adding square footage.

In the Netherlands it is the law that is stating no more than two batts...Wet Explosief Ceviel gebruik...aka wecg....
Not only lead acid anymore....
OOOh yes i forgot...it is our roberment, what "freaking goverment"(roberment that is) that want to bring back more green and be more energy neutral....
If they dont earn, you are not allowed...take bio diesel for instance, how green can you be...
Solar in your own ess put into your own ev....DUCK em, just do it and shut up and keep your "cable" for 30w an hour 7 days a week 365.4 days a year.
Shut up about your insulation or your wood stove....thank me later, a fellow Dutchie, with best regards from the Netherlands...
