If you find that you have any images that after posting are rotating, please zip the original (without resizing or any other modifications to it) and post it as an attachment here. Also post the "image" here as well, just as you'd do in a normal posting. That way we get both files at the same time.

Mike has worked pretty hard to get this issue fixed, but there have been a few rogue instances. All the data that we can collect so he can see the issues, the easier it helps him squash this anomaly.

Thanks for the help,
Kori

Will do!

Hi guys,
Here is what I do to make sure my images upload proper.

I insert the image into a post. Then I preview the post.If the image is not right I go to the image on my PC right click and rotate either clockwise or counter clockwise.

Insert again and see if it is correct.Once correct I get rid of the wrong one and then post the message.

The other thing, sometimes the phone/camera records the wrong orientation. It'll show up correctly in windows/apple/device, but on the site it shows up wrong (somehow). But, just opening the image and "Saving" forces a rewrite of the data and fixes the orientation flags.

My photos come from iphone and are inserted on a macbook... everything is fine there but not in the posting. mac os doesn't offer an easy option to rotate the pic...

Here is the one kori asked for:

Charly144, please upload images using the image uploader we built. This is the white box below the message body text area that says "Drop files here to upload". This tool properly reads the rotation flag and corrects for it.

Please do not upload images using the attachments functionality. The attachments section does not process image metadata (proper rotation).
