I'm planning a 48V DC system to run off of both Solar and grid. My house uses a lot of power daily(my wife and kids are home during the day). I need some advice on an adequate inverter and charger. Combined is fine. I know they're are a bagillion solutions out there but I would like some reviews/personal experience. Please let me know your recommendations.

Thank You,
Erik

Love my MPP Solar gear hasn't let me down yet - So far I've had with out issue PIP2424HS, PIP2424MSX, PIP4048HS & PCM60X charge controller all with out issue - they are bang for buck but not with out their drawbacks.

If you have the means do it right the first time - SP Pro SPMC482-AU From Selectronic http://www.selectronic.com.au/sppro/models.htm among dozens of others of cause.

Unfortunately MPP solar hasn't come out with a 120v US version that uses 48volt battery bank. If you wanted to go the MPP route, you'd need to use transformers to convert your 220 two phase to 220 single phase and then another transformer to split it back into 2 phase.

I have the MPP 2424LV-MSX. 24v and 2400watt

Are you using the MSX to charge lithium? If so care to share the custom charge settings you are using?

Well i will be, but not just yet. Still completing my first set of batteries. Have two more packs to assemble before i can fire it up and configure. I'll be going back through HBPowerwalls youtube videos once i have it on to see how he configured his 24v inverter.

When looking at options, pay attention to the efficiency and the power consumption under no load. Buying one with poor performance in either of these two specifications will require a larger battery bank and pv bank to compensate for the losses.

Running small loads for long periods such as TV, fridge, lights (LED) is cheap to get going.
Running large loads for short periods such as a kettle or microwave requires far more battery storage and pv bank and thus costs exponentially more to set up. So it's always more economical to use the grid for the big loads.
Try starting with a small system first. See my video on the victron.

Most preppers think that when the SHTF they will have AC going and be cooking with electricity. That's deluded
