IR Meter Recommendations

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good meter to check IR (Internal Resistance) of various battery types? I haven't checked this in the past as the testers I use (Opus) aren't very accurate. There have been a lot of requests to test this in some of my videos, so I'd like to start doing so.

I asked the same question on Facebook and these are the two that were recommended so far. I'm leaning towards the YR1035. Have you used any of these and/or are there any others I should consider?

Thanks!

Used both and both works for what we do. Check Wolfs thread and you get more info on the types he looked at.

As you know I have just about every IR tester made that is within a reasonable sub $200.00 budget. I'm sure you have seen the pictures of them. But just in case

They are all OK and relatively accurate
For ease of use the RC3563 is my personal choice. Especially when you get it with the holder. Just pop the cell in get a reading and on to the next one. I can process 50 cells in less than 10 min. Checks IR and V at the same time not like the SM8124A.
No fumbling with the probes.
Also the other clear plastic 4 wire holders that come with the YR1035 are quite cumbersome. This one is open and easy to use.

My thoughts

Oh my, that's a lot of IR testers. I've heard the YR1035 is accurate at pretty much any state of charge. Is this the same for the RC3563? I was fairly set on the YR1035 but am now leaning towards the RC3563. Price is around the same range for both.
That is true of the RC3563 also as it is AC IR and does not depend on SOC.
It also has a USB connector and software to see the readings on a screen if you want to.
You might be able to hack the API and get it to autofill a sheet with the data knowing the "Hacker" you are. :p

Correction: It look like they have finally updated the cell holder for the YR1035+ to be easier to use.

I ended up ordering the RC3563. Thanks!! Now for the 4-6 week shipping wait...

The cell holder is well worth it, it makes things easier and more reproducible (in my limited experience).

Just don't do what I did. The pin touched the wrong part of the cell and melted :mad:
Yes cell holder is Definitely worth it. I also bought the Premium cables and found them quite good.
AliExpress seller I bought mine from (recommended) is "on the simmer"

I saw a video (on Russian) when a good technician explained why YR1035+ is better and provides more correct measurements.
For example YR1035+ uses relays to switch ranges, while RC3563 uses FETs for that which adds some jitter etc.
Not sure I could find it, but if needed, possible.

Interesting
I see you referring to the YR1035+ compared to the RC3563? Is the YR1035+ better with AC IR or DC V or both?
If so then I feel another comparison test coming up as I have both of these.
Specs for YR1035+
IR:
20mΩ 0.01mΩ 0.7%+7 (when ZR function is enabled)
200mΩ 0.1mΩ 0.5%+5
2Ω 1mΩ 0.5%+5
20Ω 10mΩ 0.5%+5
200Ω 0.1Ω 0.6%+5
DC V:
1V 0.35+0.015
10V 0.30+0.010
100V 0.30+0.015

Specs for RC3563 not much info there
Parameters Accuracy:
AC resistance, DC voltage, R:0.5%, V:0.5%

Conclusion:
According to manufacturer spec both have an accuracy range of ≈ 0.5% for IR. The YR1035+ is a bit more accurate on V

Real life comparison test coming up this evening.

I also have 2 more resistors on order to round out the mΩ spectrum a little better

So the Yr1030-1035+ are essentially the same reading .0001 high to .0001 low, I have the YR1030+ just did a quick test of a 6Ω resistor
Now my test was no where as accurate as yours I am sure but it read the resistor as 6.00Ω. I am not sure because it was a cheap 50watt 6Ω audio resistor.

I ordered this one from eBay specifically because the shipping time listed was fast. I ordered it January 9th, so 2 week delivery time.
Nice enjoy your tester. I would like to figure out how to read the data for the RC3563 using Excel. Any chance you are tallented in this area or in modifying the existing PC software?
