I must have bad luck or something because I've harvested literally hundreds of these cells from old laptop packs and not a single one has tested above 2700mAh. Whereas pretty much ALL of the high capacity (3000mAh) Panasonic cells don't ever show anything below 2800mAh. Maybe the LGs just have a really bad life cycle or number of cycles. But I really wish some of them would reflect their true stated capacity.

What's also weird though is a lot of those laptop packs that I harvested them from would be 3S3P, 11.1V and 87Wh. So even the pack doesn't advertise cells above 2600. Dees es boolshit!!

Are you testing at 4.35V? Some of these higher capacity cells require 4.35V and if you test at the standard 4.20V, you won't see rated capacity.

I never have good luck with LG cells.

No, I've definitely been testing at 4.2V only so that makes a lotta sense. Thanks for the heads up and I'll try some at 4.35V now to see if I get any better results.

I charged these cells using 1A on Lii500 and I found these to be heating to 45c after at the 1hr 15min mark and 50c after 2hr 15min mark. Ambient was 26.6c. Are these discharging temps acceptable for 1A? I initially charged these using 0.5A and it was cool, only reached 30c.
EDIT: discharged at 1A on Lii500. Charging was cool at 30c even at 1A.

I also harvested 100's of cells .The maximum I got was 2200 mah ,charging under 1A .Minimum I got was 1600 mah .

I have ?200recorded onesunder my belt.
Anything with an IR over 51m? is no longer getting tested or recorded as the results are dismal. I have given away hundreds of them.
If you want a LGABD11865 cell that is ~80% SOH stay below 50m?

Mostly low mAh results and most of them SDs.

its rare around here for lg hv cells of any model to be much good.
its like they intentionally run at high voltage and accept the short lifespan.
i got a new pack of these and they test around 2500mah@1a charged to 4.20

Hi. First of all, I apologize if my question is "OFF-topic" but I haven't found another section close to the essence of the question. What I want to ask: What kind of cells can I replace cells of type LGABD11865 (ICR18650D1) in a battery of a Dell laptop? I tried with Samsung ICR18650-26JM (2600mAh, 5.2 A, 3.7 V) but unfortunately, after reassembling the cells in the battery of the Dell laptop it does NOT detect the battery and it does NOT charge. A word of advice, please! Thank you in advance!

Hi,
Your battery uses Li-IonHV cells with nominal voltage of 3.75v and maximum charge at 4.35v so equivalent for LG ICR18650D1 could be Samsung ICR 18650-30A.

But now the problem is that after cells disconnected battery monitoring chip get locked due to power loss.
First you should check chip marking code to find out if it support unlocking and reprogramming.
