Hi guys,

I'm Fred, I'm new to the community. I'm looking for a mentor who I can go to with questions, and will help direct me to the right information for my aspired build. I have an RV that I would like to rig up with a powerwall and solar. Im looking optimally to have a 5kwh battery, but I can start smaller and build up to it if the system is expandable. If anyone would like to point me in the right direction on which cells to purchase, and which instructions to follow, I'd appreciate it greatly.

The whole community here is your mentor. Read the FAQ, located on the homepage, search the forum with keywords, and if you can't find the answer to your question, post a thread.
It's far better to get the collective knowledge that most here together probably know almost 100% of the answers to your questions. Whereas a single, or 2 or 3, may not have all the answers you seek and will have to go out and ask the community anyways, wasting time in the process. Might as well cut the middle issues out all together ;)

For example - this may a bit off from what you're looking for, but I've been working on my Cargo Trailer -> Camper electrical - and you'll find some topics + wiring diagrams in this thread - https://secondlifestorage.com/index.php?threads/trailer-disable-pip-for-long-term-storage.10142/ At the least, it might inspire you to pick out some topics to think about or keywords to type into youtube to search to start learning about. :)

Also a general location of where you are would help. If you are in the US and don't feel like waiting for cells. https://batteryhookup.com , https:// batteryclearinghouse.com , https://www.power2spare.net , https://jag35.com/ are sources for cells. Safety is the single most important factor, budget is a big factor in making a battery pack, skill at soldering, spot welding, scavenging/scrounging/salvaging are a plus. I found a good spot welder is a plus easier to pick up on how to spot weld battery than learning how to solder.

Welcome to you Fred:) I quote what Korishan, Offgrid and Floyd said. I'd add that some good documentation could help you understand dynamics, for e.g. a book (paper / pdf / kindle / what-you-prefer) on making rechargeable batteries.

The youtube channel by Will Prowse has bunch of good info & discussion.
If you're after a faster build, maybe look at LiFePo4 prismatic cells, might suit RV4 use better? Eg lower risks, etc.
If doing 18650s, check out the flow charts here:
To ensure you get good cells in your packs :)
