Sounds like the best place for motors is at the end of the CV shaft.....

Yeah, the Telsa's put the motors on the frame with really short CV shafts to the wheels.

I can't really do this as I don't have the room for this, on the truck or the trailer. But I have seen some straight axles with motors attached where the drive shaft would be. But most of these are for GoCarts or ATV's. I need something a little bigger.
