Someone who lives around us is selling 12 100ah lifepo4 cells. The problem with them is that they are 4.5 years old. According to his listing, he is saying they have been though roughly 177 cycles according to his BMS. The charge/discharges were very rarely below 50%. I'm curious what people would believe these are worth? I don't worry so much about the cycles, but I mainly worry about how old they are.

Thanks in advance!

If those other numbers are true, then the age is not a problem. You will get another 15 years out of the cells. The only problem that I see, is what are you going to do with 12 cells? you need 8 for a 24V system, and 16 for a 48V system :). So I guess you would have to go for a 4s3p 12V system with that. 12V is not my favorite ;)
So what are they worth? Well, those cells had cost a fortune 4.5 years ago. I am just hoping that the Someone will understand, that today you can get them new quite cheaply. Maybe 25 Usd per cell would be reasonable?

Thanks for your reply! I was going to make 3 different 12v batteries out of them or possibly a single 300ah bank as a second battery on my truck to run accessories (I know, that's a ton of power :)The guy is looking to get $45-50 a cell and I thought that was a bit high since I can get them for just about new for that price.

Yeah, that's what I thought that he will have to high expectations. Today you can buy 4 of the 280Ah LFP cells brand new for probably less then 120 Usd per cell including shipping to your door.

Lifepo4 prismatic are so cheap these days that it would be smarter to just get them brand new.
