On another note, I recently bought a couple of those Milwaukee DIY battery cases.
The first one I built was just 5 cells, I ran 15 cells through the OPUS test/charge cycle, and picked 5 very close capacity cells.
When I press the test button I get both red & green LED's both sides. if I try it on a knock off Milwaukee impact screw driver it doesn't work, but if I put it on the real impact driver it works a treat ???

Secondly the 15 cell pack had me bamboozled until I worked out that they start counting the cells from the NEG terminal, pretty sure you normally start at the POS terminal and BAT-

1 is at the other end of that, or am I dreaming?
Anyways I got the same deal again, I use RePacker to select 15 matched cells out of 25, and I still get wacky red & green LED's, shows fully charged on Milwaukee charger, haven't run it down at all yet.
Butchered it apart because I thought I had made an error in assembly.

the image of the LEDs shows a mostly discharged battery.There looks to be 3 green LED on the fully charged battery.
You start at B-
b- = negative of first cell, then B1 is positive of first cell, positive of second cell is b2, positive of third cell is b3, so on and so forth.
So you are not dreaming.

No, as I said all 5 cells matched for capacity on Repacker, all 5 cells just over 4 volts off the OPUS test, left over night dropped a couple of millivolts.
Pic was taken immediately after assembly, and it drives my impact driver no problem.

Must have had a brain fade on cell layout, been there done that before.

Not sure why the LEDs are lighting up all the way.
What is the voltage of the completed diy battery pack? if 20V it should be lighting up at least two green LEDs I would think possibly even all three green LEDs.
Do the Milwaukee diy battery pack charge up in the Milwaukee battery charger?
If the battery packs work and don't get hot , who cares if the LEDs show actual charge level.

OK, 15 cell build works on all devices, 5 cell fails on knock off impact screw driver, but works on genuine devices.
Both charge fine on Milwaukee charger.
Both packs start a little over 20 volts.
I think the LED's on the BMS are a bit screwy tis all.
 
Ok, up to my tricks again, this will be my last power tool conversion, all others working fine.
I already fitted the old Makita body with one of these converter bases as I have done with other tools, but an 18 volt battery is a bit of overkill for the poor old 7.2 volt Makita, so I bought the closest BMS I could find with a Milwaukee connector, 2P 5S. I would like to set this up as a 18650 3P 2S giving me 7.4 volts, (see below).
I also bought a 9.6 volt LifePO4 -3S - 100 amp BMS which I not comes in numerous configurations, the 3S just having resistors soldered over Bat1 & Bat2 terminals. I'm going to build a 2P 3S 26650 cell pack with that for testing.
Can I get some suggestions as to additional connections possibly required for Milwaukee connector, 2P 5S configuration please? Or can I just ignore Bat3 & Bat4?
I also note these Milwaukee converter bases only have 2 pins, .i.e. Pos & Neg, no cell balance detection. Both BMS have balance so I guess they take care of it.
I have also set one of those bases up as a variable voltage charger station.
Looking forward to your thoughts
