MY Megacellcharger has shipped yippee

NEVER AGAIN will I be enticed by speed, convenience. My tune may change later. I just recieved my MegaCell Charger unboxed it, heard something rolling around inside it. I suspect it is one of the terminal screws as I found the other screw in the box and neither terminals have screws in them. :( I would attempt or have someone else attempt to move the resistors if I could get written instructions on what resister needs to be moved where. 34 days in transit.

Hi floydR

Well we are on the cutting edge and sometime we bleed. I for one don't really have the eyesight but I managed to replace the resistors with several magnifying instruments. Had a couple issues and replaced them with regular lead style resistors and all works fine.

Here is a good youtube video of the designer (I believe) repairing the resistor issue.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRBEo8E0BG0&t=268s
I'm not sure how Alex fits into all of this yet.
DPW 4U seems to be on the ball with the software and looks to bethe developer. He makes sense of how to use the software

Best of luck

Hi,
Number #462

But, the scan don't operate, no IP, latest release !
The scan window disappears behind the main screen. I must shutdown Megacell monitor.
Is a wifi connection compulsory ?
Eric

Sounds like everyone is having fun!

Wish I had a couple of nice testers like these. Money is tight... nice boss laid me off when my wife was Covid Positive on March 20th.

Would love to spend time tinkering with these testers.

Ah yes I had that happen too.
Once you connect to the MCC with your phone and with the password of 1234567890 you need to swipe the connection property to the side and you will find the window where you can put in your wifi SSID and password remember 2.4 only after that it should connect and work.

With my phone and IOS 13.0 but I have only IOS 12.4.8 on my Iphone 5S. He works well and I don't change (not obsolete).
Another idea ?

I don't know you have a friend with an android phone? I used my samsung without a problem.

Wolf, do you understand, how to change the IP adress on the charger.
I have 192.168.4.2 and I want 192.168.1.252

Yes what you have to do is connect to the MCC hotspot initially with your phone.
When it boots, you will see the message that it is looking for WPS, and if it is not connecting to your router, its going to become an access point.
In that mode, you have 1 minute to set it from your phone. So when the charger enters intothe access mode, go to your phone and search for a wifi connection inthe wi-fi settings. There you will find APCellDoctor_E992C50 (or something similar). Tap on it, to connect and enter the password, by default, is 1234567890.

After it is connected, you should see the management page (wait for 5 seconds). The IP address of the device was(in my case) 192.168.4.2, but to manage it and set up your wi-fi password, you go where it says manage router 192.168.4.1 (this is on my phone). It will open the manager of its internal router and on here tap on configure wi-fi. On the configure wi-fi option, tap on the SSID of your router and enter your password for your router save the information, and the charger will reset. After the charger resets you will see it connecting to your wifi network and gives you an IP address by DHCP from your router. If you want to set it to a specific IP address which is what I did you have to reserve the address on your router's DHCPserver so when it sees the MAC address of the MCC it hands it a specific address.
The MMC does not allow you to manually set its IP address. Once you have the MCC on your local subnet and have assigned it a "static IP" address let me know and I can walk you through the software setup.

Thanks Wolf,
I change my router and put the Mac adress, and

the MCC are on static IP
Fine

Do you continue our test on the MCC.
I use 18650 from laptop and 25% are rejected.
Do you have some stat ?

First question did you check the IR of the laptop Cells? Especially the rejected ones?

I am continuing to test the Megacell charger at this time with known good cells .
I have not committed it to production yet.
For up to date info you should check out the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/646858045823609 lots of good info there.
Software wise there is a beta out V3.7.3.6 you can get it here http://www.megacellmonitor.com/beta...i-nbPt5eB2ENo3Hibs6VsifvA46_EyGBDbZHxnjkLtMkM

At this point I am testing known good cells and once I can get consistent results I will commit it to production.
This beta has been pretty good so far save some small nuances.
To get full charge voltage of close to 4.2 volts I needed to set my Voltage to 4.235

For Workflow settings I just use these 2 parameters.

image_iamxwm.jpg

All done in "Enhanced Mode"

Hardware wise I have made some adjustments also.
A bit of solder on the POS terminal has improved the contact area for cells as the circular contact would occasionally not allow a cell to be recognized.

image_rbjfyb.jpg

This will be changed to a contact that I am waiting on from AliNoExpress. I will solder them onto the present tab.

image_xlbfkk.jpg

I also am experimenting with the spring contact by changing the spring to a regular 18650 holder spring.
image_rmjylc.jpg
Removing the original spring by drilling out the rivet and using a flat head 2mm screw with a nut to install the new stronger spring.

image_zhlsxh.jpg

image_ivyjon.jpg

These will be replaced with gold plated springs later when they arrive.

image_kjqxjj.jpg

This has made a dramatic improvement also with cell contact.
Lastly I am cutting 1mm thick acrylic stripsto place at the height of the temp sensor to keep the cell from rocking back and forth.

Once all these modifications are completed I think the MCC will be stable and with good software be a very good unit.

Little update on the Megacell charger. Assigning static IP's to the units defiantly has improved the usability of the software.
Another thing is that once set up you really don't need to play with all the options which will get you into trouble and program crashes.
Set your workflow to what you want and that's it. Sqliteworks and you can browse the database within the install directory.
I did not hear back from Alex as far as my resistor issue was concerned so I soldered (2)1.2k? standard resistors to the 2 problem slots I had and it works just fine.
Wolf
Update:
Alex did get back to me and yes the resistors can be replaced with THD resistors.
Quote:
"Hi,
Yes, you can replace with THD resistors if the value is the same.
Thanks for your support and understanding with this problem!

Alex"

Like Static IP at the router? I don't see where to set it on the MCC. that would make even faster connects as ESP's are notoriously slow at DHCP.

GOT IT already. don't read this POST. :)

my one arrived yesterday.

Hey, I just received my Megacell Charger and I'm going through my batch of good cells that I already tested with the Liitokala charger.
The first time I input all my cells in the Megacell and click the blue mCap test, literally all of the cells said High ESR or Low Capacity..
After reading through this really helpful thread and many other sites I've come to the conclusion that this product is not actually complete it is very much still in the alpha phase.. I really regret my purchase now...

I will modify my retail product so that it functions (not even properly) but for now, I have gone in Enhanced settings and changed the max ESR value to 500 and the max voltage drop to 1.5v.
Still, when I redid my test around 90% of my cells are saying Low Capacity Error when I have already tested them all above 2500mAh.. The ones that pass will barely reach 1000mAh and about 1/32 make it above 2000mAh. So the testing function is legit useless.
(Testing Samsung 26F @ 1A from battery hookup (only testing cells that were 2500mAh+ on my liitokala charger))

For a professional grade product, this software is really buggy and the hardware feels like china numba huan.. Some of the fan screws were loose and it weighs less than chicken noodle soup. I would have preferred the 3D printed version...
Furthermore, how can they not have a proper support forum or FAQ... I see they have a Facebook group but you cant always rely on random people's answers it's the internet. Funny how Alex replies to all my business inquiries within 1-2days because that's clearly what he's after. There are some basic fundamental hardware and software problems that need to be fixed IDK why he's uploading all these new investment opportunity videos when he doesn't even have a finished product...
Actually, I know why... He's paying big YouTubers like Jehu Garcia to make videos bragging about how good Megacell is so blind investors will keep feeding him money before doing the full research..

I thought since it was batch 3, they might have actually solved these issues that were prominent from batch 1. But clearly not they too busy closing deals and finding investors. I really would not be surprised if this next batch experiences some problems that make them need to pull out completely. And better yet since you dumb f's paid on IndoeGoGo no refunds after 14 days you're all gonna be crying to the police who won't help you either since this dude is in romania.

I really hope they can make some updates to the software and make this product actually useable. For now, this is the most expensive TP4056 with a display and wifi on the market... For $500 I feel robbed. shoulda just got more Opus chargers they can actually test cells.

Please change my mind.
