SANYO. Look at that red wrapper at different angles, there should be a marking embossed which is not so easy to see.

i did see a M25Aembossed on the wrapper.Try very hard to get an image of it.

Knowing Dell battery packs as well as I doesp. one of my favorites the 56Wh pack those are Sanyo UR18650FM 2500mAh cells.
Some have that information embossed on the wrapper some don't.
The cyan/light blueish insulation wrapper plus the 6 spoke pos cap gives it away.\

The M25A just means it was produced in the 25th week of 2008. I second the FMs, I've got a bunch like that.
Err sorry i dont quite understand. i am pretty much very new to all these
could you do a layman term breakdown

so the cell used is theSanyoUR18650FK?
Lockton,
You said that you pulled the cells from a dell pack that said 56Wh
So Overmind showed you the calculation that indicates that they are UR18650FM cells rated at 2500mAh.
3.7 voltsx2 parallel x 3 series x 2.5 Ah is equal to 55.5Wh

If you pulled the cells from a 46Wh or 47Wh pack then they would beUR18650FK cellsrated at2100mAh.
3.7x2x3x2.1 = 46.6Wh.

So according to your dell pack at 56Wh, no the cells are NOT UR18650FKs but they ARE UR18650FM.
Do not pay attention to the insulator ring as Sanyo has used blue, green, black, etc for the UR18650FMs
Not sure we can explain it any better that that.

I see. thanks for the enlightment.
now i know i can use this way also as an additional intel to ID the cell that i salvage.

Thanks Wolf and Overmind!!
