Hi from UK, not having much luck from suppliers on advice and feasibility of the following. Hope someone can help.

I have cheap 4 hour window in grid supply and want to use this period to charge a battery for daily use. Currently us period to charge EV, hot water and washing machine etc. this leaves approx 10kw of day use electric at full rate which is currently 4x the cost.
is there an inverter charger that will charge only during a set Period then discharge back to consumer unit later. That is non bidirectional.
been suggested Multiplus 2 unit but supplier can’t guarantee it will suit my requirement. May be able to use a timer connected to AC in and similar from out?
if possible then may look into recycling Batteries from an EV or just purchase new ones and maybe solar too later

thansk

Hi I use the SOFAR ME3000SP AC coupled bidirectional inverter charger. I may suit your needs.

I’ve just joined in the hope of similar advice.
I too am in the UK with fairly limited solar window that would be suitable to store the energy and feed back.

My research so far has taken me to SUN-2000W-GTIL2 which as the name suggests, a grid tied pure sine wave inverter.
This inverter can run from solar or from batteries and comes in two (as far as I’m aware) options for input voltage ranges.
It has a CT clamp that monitors the incoming current after the meter to be able to sense which way the power is flowing. That stops the batteries being discharged into the grid and only comes on when there’s demand on the home circuit.

The best thing is, they’re really quite cheap, although you may need a couple of 2KW versions if you’re using them for anything other than top up power like I intend.

My main issue at the moment is finding a way to get power into the batteries when the solar is trying to dump it to the grid.
That’s easy most people say.. just get a solar diverter. The only problem is, a solar diverter converts DC (before the inverter in my loft) and shifts it to batteries instead of being sent to the inverter.
I don’t want batteries in my loft and I also want the solar and batteries to pump into the mains at the same time when there’s a demand for it.

I know there’s a couple of options if you want off the shelf stuff but I like making an idea work on a budget.

So.. I’m thinking some kind of CT sensing charging function similar to the SUN inverter but charging instead of inverting.

If anyone else has ideas of getting AC to DC but only when draining to the grid, I’d very much like to listen.

Sorry for kind of hijacking Peacemaker but it’s also helpful to you if you haven’t already sorted a solution.

Multiplus 2 in ESS mode can definitely do that, you can define Schedules to charge the battery at fixed times and then discharge the battery during the day according to the energy needs of your house.

Well it’s good that it’s confirmed suitable.

I’m still looking for that magical budget combination personally
