No far from where I live a company specialized in recycling IT and electronics stuff sells "laptop batteries" at 10/kg.
As the origin or stateis not know this seems not realistic:
An 8-cell packs weighs +/-450g so you have +/- 20 cells for 10.
At a 35% attrition rate for let's say 1800mAh+one pays 10 for 7 cells.

Way too expensive or do I miss something...

At wesellcells.eu the prices of untested packsare much lower.

That does sound pretty high. I've seen plenty of people selling tested cells for $1 USD per cell for ~2000 mAH. I wouldn't pay more then $0.50 per untested cell and preferably it would be less then $0.30 per cell. I'd say try to find another source.

+1 katarn. That's a bit steep on the prices. They think they got a business going on there. At that rate, ask them how much they'd buy them for. Then buy the packs somewhere else and sell them to those guys at a mark up :p

Then when they're saturated, offer to buy them back in bulk at a significantly lower cost. You'd win in both directions ;)

These are prices that we are unfortunately unable to realize in Germany.
I have already found some offers for used cells, but they usually have the price of at least 1to for untested cells.

Unfortunately, the market for 18650 in Germany is quite thin. :(

At that rate, you're better off buying new cells. At least they come with some sort of warranty.

Don't buy batteries. Get them for free or leave them. Companies have realized that there is money to make and so many people have fallen for it that the price actually shot up due to demand. This is absolutely ridiculous. The average price of a used cell in Germany has reached the prices of new cells quite some time ago.

Like you'd know! How do you know what the prices are doing?

Oh wait, you're in Germany! Nevermind!!! :p

Yeah, sucks that companies are starting to price gouge such a commodity when just last year they were tossing them in the trash like yesterdays leftover dinner.
