re sleeving 18650 cells

I don't often resleeve as it's a fair amount of work to do a 1,000 cells. But when I do....
I setup 20 in a row vertically on my desktop with sleeves in position. Pop in the + insulator on top and then blow the heat gun at the top from a angle below to curl the sleeves over the top insulator / get things pretty well set. Then lay them flat and roll back and forth with gun air flow and a stick till it's all snug. This get's 20 cells at a time.

If I thought I could get away with it, I would try that but most of the time, my air gun, even on low will blow out the insulator lol. Hence the use of my asbestos fingers. Also, the batches I have been getting have been out in the weather I suspect and a lot of them look ok but very often there is a little bit of rust under the insulator. I discharge and recycle these ones. I am happy to slowly build up the power wall, 7s80p at a time. Its more of a hobby than a drive to be self sufficient. We have 4Kw of solar panels which were fitted in 2015, grid tied no batteries. It was a good (UK) government scheme then that pays a 'feed in' tariff. We get approx £800 back per year. :) so my powerwall will gradually build up from supplying the garage, lights fridge freezer to being able to power the house at night via a transfer switch. This way will not affect the feed in tariff. I love your set up by the way.

My first "Frankenstein" Battery I resleeved every cell (1120) as I found corrosion under some of the insulators even without any external indication.
My method included using magnets to space the sleeves correctly.

I like the magnet (Petes) idea but have not got around to it yet. :)
