Software Conversion Maintenance

Just click the thread Title. It'll jump you to that spot. If you click on the link above the last poster on the right, it should jump you to that particular post.

In addition, the data from MyBB that indicated the last post each user read in each thread was not migrated as part of the conversion. Xenforo won't know where you last read a thread. When I logged in for the first time, it was showing every single post as unread. I would suggest hitting "Mark Forums Read" so you can begin tracking new posts again :)

Everything looks better. I like it! Thanks mr. mike

I'm not seeing an option to jump straight from a thread title in the list to the first unread post in the thread. On the old site there was a blob just to the left of a title, which if clicked, would take you straight there. I see there is a "Jump to New" button once your in the thread, but that requires a second click. Far too much effort.. 😜

When clicking on the thread Title, you'll notice on the right side of the posts it shows a "New" moniker so you know which posts you hadn't read yet:

Well, I can, but I don't really want to. Is embedding images not a thing anymore?
Doesn't attaching use up a lot of space on the server?

I must say I REALLY LIKE the new forum software. Typically, major changes are such a pain - but this one is really exceptional. Thank you @mike! (and anyone else I don't know about)

It will work if you manually put the IMG tags, just not using the media link. Looking at the list of approved media sites that came default - they're all video, audio, or news-type sites, not image hosting. I'm not sure why there isn't an image button on the toolbar.

I'd still prefer them to be uploaded directly as attachments. I'm not concerned about storage space, and embedded images are all proxied anyway (stored locally on the server even though external links). You're welcome to use the IMG tags if that's easier for you.

I had a script on the old software that was downloading all of the embedded images and hosting them locally and will likely do the same with this one eventually.

Mike owns the server. If we need more space, just slap another multi-TB drive in or such. No big deal.

Ok. I appreciate the information. Since attaching is the preferred method I'll use that.

Good work Mike on the conversion, it must have been a lot of work.

It seems not all images under FAQ Fuse Wires were migrated. I have looked for similar images but haven't found them.

Thanks

Ah, because those were directly inserted with IMG tags rather than DIY tags. It looks like there are several threads with similar links. I will work on a script to correct them over the next few days. Thank you for letting me know.

I don't think that embedded links to a specific post within a thread have imported correctly from the old forum. For example in this post there is a link that looks like this:
Code:
[url=https://secondlifestorage.com/showthread.php?tid=2328&pid=23664#pid23664]which I wrote about here[/url]
which just takes you to the first post in the thread.

Whereas if I generate a new link it looks like this:
Code:
[URL='https://secondlifestorage.com/index.php?threads/external-limiting-an-gtil2-sun-1000g2-with-raspberry.2328/post-23664']which I wrote about here[/URL].
which works as expected, and takes you to the specific post.
