Solar Inverter Monitoring Applications

Hi Folks,

This question has probably been asked before, but here goes. I have an existing SolarMax grid tied inverter, and I've always used the MaxMonitoring App on my phone and tablet to monitor the statistics of the inverter.

It appears the folks at SolarMaxare retiring the MaxMonitoring app (it has disappeared from the Android app store) so I am wondering if there are 'generic' applications available for use on Android phones/tablets to monitor a network connected TCP/IP inverter?

When I get my Victron off-grid setup running it is likely I will look at a generic monitoring system/applicationthat incorporates both grid tied and off grid solar yields and monitoring, but for now I just want an android app that can replace the Max Monitoring application.

Always open to other ideas for monitoring, so if you have another way to monitor inverters thenplease let me know :)

As always, thanks for your help, Mark

Looks like there might be some open source projects out there if you're up for that?
https://sourceforge.net/projects/solarmaxwatcher/ (not sure if it's the same inverters???)
Not sure if Daromers' project does them?

Hi Redpacket,

I have been tardy in replying. Thanks for the reply, however I had hoped there might an android app available. My wife only does android tablet, and I think I'd get one of those 'are you serious' looks if I suggested she use a Raspberry Pi... :p

But I will look at the solarmaxwatcher and theDaromer project as they look really interesting.

Thanks again, Mark

Hi Guys,

Need some assistance please in connecting the Raspberry to the inverter. I have an Axpert 5kva inverter and I believe it is being referred to a a PIP4048 inverter. At the bottom of the inverter I have a number of connections, i.e. USB, RJ45 as well as what looks like a 15 pin male connector and lastly a 15 pin female connector (I believe the last two are used when connecting multiple inverters in parallel).

I have downloaded the software from Daromer and burned it to an SD card. I have the Raspberry up and running and can see the Grafanap age and images on port 3000.

In terms of connecting the Inverter to the Raspberry, I have tried 2 methods to connect.
- using the standard USB to USB cable in the USB port
- using a normal RJ45 connector in the RJ45 port

In Grafana, I have selected the page for PIP4048 but my problem is that I do not see any values being passed from the inverter. Is there anyone that can assist and let me know the what is the correct method to connect my inverter to the Raspberry please. Are there any special cables I should be using or any other change I need to make to the Daromer software please, i.e. enable serial comms or anything else.

Regards
Conroy

Have you
1 followed My video and instructions? Like the page om this forum

Remember you can have a web page browser link to click on, ie raspberry pi > graphana results < android browser

Yeah the RASP is only the server part. You can surf via web interface :)

Hi Daromer,

How can I confirm that I have connectivity between the Raspberry and the Inverter using either your RJ45 to RS232 to TTL (as per your video) cable or the USB B type to USB cable?

Run the software manually.

Hi Daromer,

How do I run the software manually and how do I check to confirm? Please advise, I am not as familiar with your software and do not have a manual to provide guidance.

Thanks again for your effort and hard work on this. I hope to get this working soon....
