Hello,
I want to build battery 13S18P to have a big capacity, so it will be a 48V 61,2 mAh battery
But its my first time, i did pattern, can someone help me to check if i don't do mistake?
Thank you very much for help.... :):):)

Very nice layout, I find things like this helpful as a guide when actually hooking things up. And Welcome to the site - look forward to following your progress.

FYI, 14s instead of 13s would put you in more in the normal range for 48v equipment - but looking at the detail I presume this is on purpose :)'

Diagram looks OK to my eye if I'm understanding it except for paralleling the negatives - I've circled this in red. Or course, proceed carefully regardless of what I comment.

Are you spot-welding? and then will fold over the top set of cells? What is the planned use for this battery and what BMS are you planning?

Maybe I am not understanding your diagram correctly but from what i see is your fist series has 18 cells, every series after that only has 9 cells?

@OffGridInTheCity : Yes i saw it after i sent the message that i forgot to put - in parallel... :). But if i add another line in series its not too much because my nominative voltage will be 51,8 V? Sorry but i'm a novice can you explain me more? Thank you very much for your advice... And i have another question what thickness for the nickel strip?
Are you spot-welding? Yes i will do a spot weld
then will fold over the top set of cells? Yes i will fold the second level on the first
What is the planned use for this battery and what BMS are you planning? For the BMS i still not choose but i will take one with balance to not have problem during the charge.

@floyd : Yes i made 18 cells in parallels but i did it like this because i don't have so many place in case where i will put my battery... So i thought like this -> my 2 first line will be in parallels and the following in series

Thank you guys for your comments and advice....:):)(y)(y)

Each series needs to have 18cells in parallel. Unless I am not understanding correctly you only have room for 117cells? Need 234 cells for a 13s18p
Connecting the negative side of the 18P in parallel would create a short circuit.

@floyd : So if i understood good i must to put just 1 line in parallel (9 cells) and the following in series, right? but howi can grow my capacity in this case?

Max.

yes each series would have 9p.
How many cells can you fit into battery case?
Will you be using Cell holders?
What are the dimensions of your case?

I made 2 7s10p using 4x5 cell holders which was originally going to be 14s10p I was going to fold the battery in half much like you are planning to do
The space you have can hold at least 126 cells is 9p the maximum you can fit in parallel?
This is a 14s9p

@floyd : Yes now i and like you said i understood if i want more capacity i must to do 2 battery 13S9P and to put them in parallel i would need 234 cells... Thx you very much for your explain....
My box is 18X15X26, i can do 3 floors
But i need to put 2 battery 13S9P to have big capacity....

Or the second solution i must use cells 21600 with 4500 mAh... I find it in China but i don't know if capacity is real.... :)

Max.

2 13s9p batteries would fit in a 180mm x 150mm x 260mm case
18 x 9=162mm without cell holders ~170mm with cell holders , cell with nickel strips 68mm height, , 18 x13=234mm with out cell holders, with cell holders ~250mm You could use a single bms paralleling the balance lines and the main positives , negatives .
No second level needed.

For your first time, protection (bms) is the most important thing. If not it could change your life forever 👶 😉

@floyd : Thanks you very much for your advise, but i don't understand two things, so i need one BMS for each battery right? and you said that no second level needed, how its possible because i need 13cells in series and like you wrote 18 x 13 = 234mm, the maximum that i had it's 180mm, so i must have second level.

@Cheap 4-life : Yes i will try to don't do mistake when i will choose it.

Max.

Your case is 18cm x 15cm x 26cm right? I turned the battery so the 13s is on the 260mm side made two 13s9p modules.
Each module being ~ 237mm x ~165mm x~ 70mm 2 of the modules would fit in a 260mm x 180mm x 150mm .
The single BMS would be wired both battery modules.

@floydR : Ooohhh now I understood... Why I don't thought about it...:eek: I will try to make pattern and will send you... Really thank you very much for your advice... ;););)
