Some prismatic cells have a case design that kinda keeps them squeezed enough to keep them from expanding. Think cell phone batteries, for example. Under normal conditions they don't swell.

I'll add, I may have added a little confusion with my statement. I meant that all "pouch" cells should be under compression of some sort. Some require more compression than others.
And as Redpacket states, the gassing usually happens when the cell is over-current charge/discharge or over-voltage charged.
But as far as the CATL prismatics, I believe AvE Joe as well as Lithium Solar on YT both recently got some, and the instructions were they needed to be under compression.
