I bought 2 new vanon batteries earlier this year and both of them have gone bad already, I got them off eBay and the seller doesn't respond to me, how do I get the 5-year warranty as they were advertised?

Try contacting Vanon directly. But you'll probably get the same lack of response.

Nope, sorry. Maybe HBPowerwall still has the contact info from when they sent him the "review packs". But he has a way of deleting trash. But who knows. Try sending him a PM directly, or post a comment on his Vanon video. He tries to keep up with all comments.

Vanon is such a weird "brand." There is no consistency to their packs, other than the label on the outside. I've seen laptop cells in some power tool packs, fake LG cells, Moli cells (could be real or fake, who knows), and of course some other generic brand cells. The stated capacity of the cells inside the packs never match the label (1.3Ah cells in 2Ah labeled packs). While I am proving that some generics are better than others in my testing, Vanon really seems to be digging at the bottom of the barrel with the cells that it uses.

I've had mine since last year no issues yet. Just seen the post and figured I would open up and post my findings.

I recently bought a B&D 20v MAX replacement from Ebay. It is marked as a 3.0 Ah and with a Vanon logo. However, its actually tested capacity is about 1.1 -1.2 Ah. This is ridiculous. Anyone think such batteries bought from Vanon directly will be better at all?

I've said it before, they fucked me over by sending me 30q cells (that are still in other devices and holding up well) and everyone else's are junk - then the assholes used my screenshots of the cells in their marketing making the lie 10x worse - I just love how the video is getting so many hits and comments from people that are unhappy with the product - backfired on them i think. Well HOPE! must have as i've only sold 5 batteries under my aff code since release of the video.

The test results of the "Vanon" battery that I bought on Ebay is attached. I used two means to test it. In method 1,I used aa 20 Ohm resisteras the load of the battery and used an Owon recording multimeter to record the discharge curve of the battery as shown. Using the result, its capacity is calculated only to be about 1.1AH. In method 2,I used a PZEM-013 battery tester. The test result is essentially the same, the battery capacity is shown as about 1.17AH as shown in the photo of the test result reading.
I asked Vanon, they said they are not responsible for the product I bought from Ebay. However, if I bought from them, they will take care of that if it is the case. I don't know if this would be true. I was think to replace the cells in the assembled B&D battery using my own cell. However, I am not sure if regular soldering can stand the large current of the tools (20A?).

Yes I have already did. They did a partial refund so I don't need to return the product. I agreed because it can still be used as a backup. I will open it to see what type of cells are inside and reporting here once I find out.

Straight soldering is fine for 20A, you would have no issues on normal operation. I think the only time you'd have an issue would be if you needed to run the tool non-stop at full amp load for many minutes. Which is hard to do with any power tool except for a drill press. And even then, you pause frequently.
Just make sure there is plenty of solder on the connection. If you are using the existing nickel strip, cut a slit in the middle where you'll be soldering to to allow for more solder to flow in the connection.

hi, Korishan:
Thank you for your reply. Another question I have and wish you can provide insight also.I soldered 5 Panasonic 3400 mAh NCR18650B in a B&D 20v max case. I tested it but not extensively yet. It seems work fine. However, then I read some posting online. It seems this type of cells only allow a max current draw of less than 10A. However, it is recommended to use cells with a max current of at least 20A. Do you see there will be any serious problem? The internal resistance of such a cell is about 25mOhms.I am using it in a B&D tiller. Your comments wouldbe greatly appreciated.

If the cell can only deliver 10A, then the motor will be limited in its output. You'll notice it taking longer and/or not driving all the way.

Any other questions, or wanting more details, please start a new thread in the appropriate section.

The battery in the Ebay/Vanon 3.0Ah B&D20v-max are THISS 18650HR15. I don't know THISS is a good brand or not but the battery are 1.5Ah for sure.

In the comments section of that video I had the chance to chat to other Vanon users of different options on the batteries - and put it out there if anyone purchased due to my review to open the packs and take some photos of what cells they contained - Some reached out yesterday and these are the images & emails I received from them.
Where are the photos?

After my last posting, I had some really really bad experiences with Vanon! I will share them when get time.
