Hey All,

I've been looking for an inverter for and off grid style setup. It will have a main 48V battery, Solar array and i would like AC power etc. I have a friend who can get Victron inverters through his work but ive not seen them on many of the videos ive been watching.

Has anyone got any experience with them? are they good etc? ive been looking at the one in the attached image which is fairly overkill for my current system, but i want to try and future proof it slightly.

Any thoughts and ideas would be great.

Thanks

I don't have any experience with Victron, but after reading many comments and viewing van/rv build videos, Victron is clearly a solid choice. If it helps, @Will Prowse recently did a youtube detailing Victron components and how they work together

Great video thank you for sharing that, from what i have been looking at on their site, some systems require lots of additions and others seem to be taken care of with just one. Need to figure that out now :D.

Cheers

You can't go wrong with Victron, its considered a premium option and they scale well... As a system builder / designer it turned into one of my favorite brands. I ultimately became a Victron Energy reseller. If you are based in the USA and need a quote send me a PM.

Just FYI their new MultiPlus-II units are long lead-time right now.

Victron is super great quality and they have a nice ecosystem.
They are however nearly twice if not three times the prices of other options if you calculate all the needed parts into the equasion.

My gear is Victron, very happy with it so far (~4 years), would buy again.

Hey, that is good to hear, when my friend gave me the trade price of £900 for one of them i was a bit shocked. Im not going out there looking for the best quality it was just an options he said he could get hold of and recommended,. He very much shared your thoughts on them which is good to hear. Thank you for the offer, but unfortunately i am based in the UK.

I have been seeing this come up with the price. I need to weigh up the cost price i can get the parts at, which is still a lot of money Vs what i really need for the current system.

what would be some other decent off grid inverter/charger brands to be on the look out for?

thanks for the replies!

Victron & SMA or pretty much top tier
Growatt comes next imo
Voltronic and all companies buying their inverter and relable them as their own (MPPSolar for example) takes the 3rd place, not the best, but not the worst either

Is it possible to get a BMS that works with the Multiplus II? -for my 'diy 18650' powerwall?

I have a small Victron charge controller for my LiFePO4 system, and have been very impressed with the quality. Good stuff.
