Where Did You Find Us?

Hi everybody;
I found this site when looking (on Google) for user reviews on used Valence U1-12RT LiFePO batteries, which I am considering purchasing. I'm planning on building an off-grid solar-powered retirement house in the rural Philippines, which is notorious for power disruptions. Building a reliable, safe battery bank is essential to my plans so I'm trying to learn as much as possible about solar system design and battery storage, before jumping in with both feet.

New LiFePO batteries are pretty expensive so I'm currently exploring the pros and cons of (lightly) used ones. Am hopeful to learn from the experiences of other green-minded solar power users/builders on this forum.

Thanks in advance for your advice and recommendations. Feel free to ask any questions.

Hi, I saw a reference and a link to dyipowerwalls/celldatabase on a youtoob video by someone called HBpowerwall I think it was
Cheers for now

So thanks HBPowerwall - I see your one of the gurus here too - cheers., I'm from west oz and have been doing ewaste and have about 350 18650s that I've collected and just started the initial charging/testing - going to have to get a few more of these Lii-500s as doing 4 at a time sucks! Lol

Welcome & you're welcome - enjoy your say :)

New Aussie member here. I found your site via a link in a charger thread at budgetlightforum.
Have a long standing interest in solar and off grid and I look forward to some interesting reading.

I did find you originally via google, i was trying to work out what bats i had harvested and came across the Cell Database and then came here, the bats worked out to be heaters.... gutted

my google is strong :)

Nope, I'm not on Facebook and I don't know this Peter's Youtube videos.

I have seen a few Youtube videos by others (Jehu Garcia, Will Prowse) but they never quite get into the nitty-gritty so I was searching around for other resources for off-grid power systems...

[diy]undefined[/diy] Having watched quite a few of Jehu Garcia's YouTube videos, I started to collect 18650 cells, but became rather confused at the many & varied methods of connecting cells into packs, +/- BMS systems etc, and lost some enthusiasm until today. Paul Kennett offered some 3D printed Nissan Leaf strut covers, (which fitted perfectly, thanks Paul!) & I was able to speak to him at the Wellington NZ MakerFaire today, along with DCkiwi, and discover this group. The apparent dumping by airport security (?) of confiscated Li ion cells angers me and I have been trying to find out how these may be saved. Any ideas?
In the Wairarapa, I have a 3kW PV system with 5kWh storage & would love to be able to increase that storage capacity so that the kWh 'lost' to Genesis (for $0.08/kWh) can be better used to charge our Leaf at peak generation. Any help/suggestions/ideas or direction would be appreciated.

Facebook page link.

Looking forward to getting some real explanations of the numbers that keep getting thrown around
