The aa and aaa batteries in the kits show as fully charged in my ebl charger, but the batteries die within minutes when installed in a device. this is not at all how my other older ebl batteries last- they power the same device for around one week before needing to be recharged.

returning things wastes my time. If there is any ideas for this issue? thanks

video here, 4 old batteries work well, but new one drain fast

"new" batteries may be "new old stock" ie been on the shelf for a while.
Are either new or old at significantly different temps?
See what happens if you charge, discharge & recharge them a few times. May come good.

Wow you weren't kidding when you said fast!!

I agree with Redpacket. Also, possible they could be *really* old and are just past their life. Check their date codes on the "cells" themselves, not the packaging. If they are several years old, might see about getting a refund/replacement.

Cycling "sometimes" brings back cells. See what happens. But you need to do full discharge, tho, using the tester. Not just an LED light or something until it stops.

Several questions arise.
Are they genuine EBL batteries and how would you know?
If a market is large enough there are counterfeiters at every turn taking advantage of a successful brand.
How much did you pay for them?
I once bought some "Panasonic NCR18650" (cells 2700mAh) yea right. Had similar wrapper and markings but just different enough when compared to a genuine one. Admittedly they where rather inexpensive but at that time I was but a babe in the 18650 world. Nevertheless they tested at 1500mAh half of what they where supposed to.
So I would not count out non genuine cells.
However if they are genuine then I would say they are defective and request a refund however much of a pain in the A** it is.

thank you for your suggestion, yeah, you are right, I got the reply from my battery store. Then said the battery maybe in their us warehouse for a long time, need discharge these batteries, and recharge several times.

However, my current charger without the discharge function. Fortunately, the battery seller will send a new charger to me for free with discharging function. I will update after receive the new one charger.

All batteries work well now.
active the battery, fully charge and discharge battery for several times. should use the proper charger at a low current, it's very important. when battery is stored for a long time, if you use high current fast charger, battery protection, no small current activation, and false charging.
