Hey guys,

what is the best way to remove the nickel strips from harvested 18650s?
I've been thinking about ripping them off with a pair of pliers.

I use this:

I use these to cut the welds off flush.
They work very well as the bottom is flush not curved as most side cutters are.

Yep I got those too but found that the flat ones work better bigger handles and more grip and really tough.
I do still use what you showsometimes when needed.
Essentially sometimes it takes 2 or 3 different tools to make it work. :D

these hakko chp-170side snips you can find on ebay for 7 dollars work great, they get all the nickel strip off that needle nose won't get. The best tool to have. I had some a123 cells (200 cells)that was very slow going getting the nickel strip off, I actually stopped andordered the sidesnips and waited until they arrived to finish the job.

Like they say get the right tool for the job so you don't struggle. I wasn't sure if these cheap sidesnips were going to last, but a year later they arestill sharp and cutting excellent.
