When trowing laptops packs remains, dead cells and other scrap at the recycling Ifound a decent looking Maglite full size. Back home Itested directly connecting a 18650 to the back of the led driver, yes it's a led Maglite with Terralux conversion kit, with 4v it's fade but working.
I don't have 6 D cells to put and don't want to buy some so I decided to adapt the torch for 18650.
I made 6 cylinders 30mm form a scrap MDF panel, 18mm holes insides, pushed the cells inside and voila !
As 3 18650 are shorter than 6xD cells, Iuse a pice of copper as spacer and keep the factory spring so no need for a precise cut and it can work withdifferents 18650 cells.
