Looking for suggestions for Battery Charger and Inverter to sit in parallel to my existing Hybrid system.
My existing setup is 18.5Kw of panels, into 2 x SolarEdge and 1 x StorEdge inverters. The StorEdge is setup to run a backup panel using the LG RESU 10H battery. I have a grandfathered UtahNetMeter plan which gives me 1:1 credit for the next 17 years. The new battery project is a hobby to increase my self consumption, and I haven't seen anyone document a successful setup for adding an additional battery to the StorEdge.
I have procured a 2012 Nissan Leaf battery and working on tearing it down. I will be mounting it in a old HP Server rack that I have.Leaning toward purchasing the Batrium for BMS.
Now my questions:
1. I only want to charge when I have excess solar power being exported. I could tie into the RS-485 bus on the SolarEdge to see the current values or install a new CT Meter. I don't need a MPPT charger as I will be charging the batteries from Grid power. Thoughts / Suggestions on a charger?
2. Inverter - I already have backup power covered (via the StorEdge). I would like to increase self consumption by injecting power into the house to accommodate the shortfalls of Solar. Thoughts / Suggestions on a inverter?
Thanks for your opinions.
