Yes, I'd like to be involved even though I'm a newbie to the forum. I've been watching you for years though and have outfitted my powerwall project based on your guidance.

Pete how do we track were the Community Spot Welder is at any given time and how long do we give the recipient to use the welder? Should it be sent back to the owner after use or to the next user from the last users location? Just asking because I have already gotten a request for my welder here in the USA.

I would send via Certified mail, imho. That way they have to sign for it. Secondly, just like the "Awesomeist 18650 Charger Thingy", it should just be passed on from user to user, but where the original owner knows where it's at at all times.
I suppose another way would be that the owner pays for shipping outbound, and the user pays for shipping back to said owner. I suppose this would work too and be fair on cost of shipping.

Personally, I'm not posting if someone needs it enough they can drive to pick it up. That way you can get ID , shake their hand etc. I guess it will work differently for everyone. The intended recipients would also be highly active in the community with a documented quantity of cells ready to go.

I'm in Christchurch NZ, and to do what i wan't to do i'm going to have to buy cells, and my own welder.
That's cool. There's so much work at the moment i'm time poor.
January will see me setting up a Kweld from the 24V home supply.

My thoughts are people living close by could bring their project to my hovel and borrow a workshop bench?
I might set it up for 230VAC, and post it out to the lucky few, but i think keeping it at home most of the time would work better for me.

I have a Suunko 709A in South of Sweden. Pickup and handshake and its borrowable. Normal requirements like to be able to show that you got the gear to use it and so forth.
Will have atlest 1 more spotwelder in short for this project.

They can also come to my place and do the spot welding instead of borrowing it if the person wants.
