Can someone tell me how many 18650 cells at 2100 mAh do I need to to match a Chevy volt battery 48v 2000 kw / 50 ah please. I'm New to this site. Thanks leon

don't hijack someone else's thread to ask a question that has nothing to do with the thread.

You have the math right there

2100 mAh = 2.1 Ah
50 Ah / 2.1 = 23.8 in parallel
To get 48V, you need 14s

14 * 24 = 336 cells

Another solution would be Boston Power Swing 4400 cells. Divide the number of 18650's in half that Korishan already provided the math for ...so basically 168 Boston Power Swing 4400's. And you have a little more maH since the 4400's are like two 18650's @ 2200mAh. Less work too ....half the parallel connections.

Thanks again for the help. I'm trying to match the 448 volt Chevy volt batteries with 18 650 cells. If I use the18650 cells on a 14 s won't I have to add a cells to the 4 48 v. volt batteries ? Thanks. Leon

You don't necessarily have to match the amp hours, but you do have to match the voltage range.
So for nominal 48V Li-Ion chemistry, it's 14s 18650's

The only reason to need to match capacity is if the 18650 packs were all in parallel with each of the packs of the Chevy Volt batteries, which I doubt you'd be doing here. Connecting the absolute connectors in parallel (the main Pos/Neg) of each battery is all that is necessary. Agree with Redpacket that it needs to be the same voltage, so 14s on the 18650's.

But I still need to get the 48v Chevy batteries 12s to 14s how do I do that? Do I just add 48v Chevy battery down to 8s carefully or 18650, leaf batteries ? Thanks Leon

You'll need to arrange the Chevy cells in 14s first, ie 14s1p or 14s2p or 14s3p if you have enough cells.
Then if you want to add capacity, you could build (in parallel with the first Chevy pack):
- another 14s string of Chevy cells, ie 14s1p, and/or
- 14s packs of 18650's.

You might find David Poz's videos enlightening. He documented him converting/reconfiguring a Gen2 Volt battery.

It's probably covered in the video, but just in case it's not:
Make sure your cells are compressed tightly together at both ends using the metal plates. Otherwise the cells will bloat when charged.
