cell matching brand new 18650
#1
Hello,

I'm wondering if it's necessary to cell match brand new INR18650-35E batteries? I've tested few and they're +/- 30mah with each other.

I would not match new cells unless it is for HIGH current applications

I will be pulling max 3A per cell, that counts?

https://www.orbtronic.com/content/samsun...50-35e.pdf
Model: INR18650-35E
Size: 18650
Chemistry: INR
Nominal Capacity: 3500mAh
Continuous Discharge Rating: 8A
Max Discharge Rating: 13A

3A would not be considered HIGH current for these cells. 8A is standard, 13A would be.

How accurate is your test equipment ?

The negligible +/- 30mAh is likely a combination of a slight cell capacity difference and your testers inaccuracy and repeatability.

High current is when you max out the cells and the ir really start to come to play

Well the more cells you put in parallel the less the need for matching.
