Valence LiFePo4 130Ah used

Hello folks,

It has been a long time. Got tired of harvesting (more like looking for cheap source of laptop batteries) ans stopped.

I found a source that has 20-30 Valence 12V 130Ah LiFePo4 packs. The issue is that their condition is unknown, they are used but no capacity measurement was done. They were purchased in 2017 and have been left on their own.

How would one go about testing the health and capacity of such high Ah packs?

Idea is to buy as many as I can and create 5s - 60V storage system. Maybe but a loud of Batterium monitors.

Read they there's damage under 2.5V much like NMC based Li-ion. Can they be recovered? though might be better to use then with care

I would take my iCharger DUO 308 and capacity test them.

I would do 16s install with them. Thats 4 in series. I run Valence 130Ah packs. Roughly 100kWh = 60 of them in total Wink You can check out my videos about it all.

I have seen your videos before but let me look them up again. That iCharger looks beefy Smile

Let me see how i can source it around here though i will probably need to make sure I have the batteries for myself first

Valence packs are rock solid. They easy do 5000 cycles IF taken Care of

Very helpful videos and nice setup! Yes i meant 16S as each 12V pack is 4S internally - I haven't seen these packs but good to know their internal setup (you had a few without the covers.

They are a good price - will have to do something with them.

How would the packs be they were left untouch since 2017? I can check if they are 10V but any other testing has to be done at home. For 60 a pack worth the gamble?

No idea how they are. You need to test them or atleast test some of them randomly.

Thanks. I'll pick 8 packs for testing once I have a decent charger. Was looking at iCharger x8 - cheaper than iCharger Duo - debating if it's any good.

iCharger X8 works great but you need to send the energy back on the input. The iCharger duo is dual channel and therfore a different price.
