Help with MPP LV 5048 split phase
#1
I've been doing some early testing with my 14s120p pack and the LV5048 and ran into something that has me scratching my head.
The unit has been working fine in battery mode but the switching between modes isn’t working as I would expect. The unit is configured as shown here:

So I wanted to test a scenario where my battery is maybe half charged and bad weather is coming so I want to top it off. I could be wrong about this, but I thought that turning off the inverter with the switch should place the unit in LINE MODE and start charging via utility plus solar while continuing to power the loads via bypass. Like the bottom diagram shown in the manual:

However when I try this, all inverter output loads are switched off and the battery is charging only via solar according to the LCD display. (Second diagram down):

If I then turn the inverter back on with the switch, the unit powers back up in LINE MODE with power to loads (bypass) and charging via Utility and Solar PV. After a while (maybe 5 minutes?), it then switches back to BATTERY MODE (no utility charging) where I originally started.

So my question is how can I put the unit in LINE MODE to top up my batteries via utility power without losing power to the loads? ("Charging by PV energy and utility" from the manual.)

On my PIP4048's and 2024/2040's when you change from say Utility to SBU it happens instantly almost BUT software doesn't make the change for up to 10 seconds

And I can do that whenever I like over the past few years without having to turn anything off. Any motor you'll hear a clunk like a fridge but everything else carries on as usual. In my case that clunk is the difference between grid voltage and 220ish volts the inverters put out.

Oh wow... I didn't even think of that! I'm gonna try it now. Thanks Pete!

I'm digging your new car project BTW. Pretty ambitious timeline you've set. You're gonna be busy!

Hey, it worked! Sun is down. I switched "Output Source Priority" from SBU to Utility, and now I'm sending 30A from grid to the battery and holding the loads up at the same time. Thank you sir. Much appreciated.

My 2424lv will switch from SBu to Utility instantly but when I try to switch back to SBU Sometimes it can take up to 10 Min. not sure why
