Welders

Hey guys!
Bit of a noobie question here, but is there such a thing as a decent & cheap spot welder?
Ive seen all sorts of scary bodges on youtube and cheap cr"p on ebay, but is there anything that will do the job without hurting my wallet or singing my eyebrows?
