Hi,

Some advise please?

I am building a 4S 12P battery for a power pack to be used for camping.

I am located in South Africa and limited to a(CF - 4A30A - A)BMS.

Questions:

  • It is really cheap, but is it reliable and would someone recommend it?
  • Is it actually a BMS or just a protection board?
  • Can the settings be changed? (The over discharge voltageis way lower than I would like) - I take it as not and therefore can be controlled by a Bluetooth charge controller if using solar.
Thanks for the feedback

Hi Neels,
I *think* you mean CF-4S30A-A ... the 'S' is for 4 cells in series.
Pretty sure that's a BMS, not just protection. It is as you say cheap, and for those reasons:
  • Don't even go close to 30A ... general recommendation is to go no higher than half the 'rated' current for these.
  • Don't trust that it works until you've fully tested it. Monitor carefully while testing.

There's probably a long list of warnings that could be provided, but ultimately the message is "don't trust it". Even after you're satisfied it works, check the battery pack often to make sure it is in spec.

I do not believe these can be adjusted at all. For that you are looking for a much more pricey BMS.
