Hello from Auckland , New Zealand

Howdy, a tinkerer from way back. Smile
I have decided to take my house off grid.

My property is not even rural. Just the suburbs as my US friends would say.

Estimated payback time is about 10 years.
Down from 20 when I looked at it 5 years ago.
I like the thought of having one less monthly bill when retirement comes.  Rolleyes

My journey will be documented in another thread, warts and all.

See you all on the other side  Tongue

Good to hear from the great place of Auckland.
Stayed on north shore for a year, marvelous!
Good luck with going off grid, have done it and it's good, plenty of tech probs but worth it.
One of the best guys to look at for battery storage is on YouTube a South African called William from New Zealand ( williamgerr)
Hope this helps.

Hi, I'm also from South Africa, but lurking in Grenada for 12 months or so until this COVID-19 thing sorts itself out.

I found this forum by squinting at the URL at the top of a page when Power Wall Pete was trying to look up some "fake" batteries ;-)

Looks good so far. I like the site and registered specifically to be able to make a comment. I've done quite a bit of studying of the physics, chemistry and technology, but haven't yet found a usable source of second hand batteries. That will have to wait until I get home - hopefully earlier rather than later next year!

I'm also a William, BTW
